Dear All,

1) 0.2m square = ? cm

2) Bases = 50cm
    Area of triangle = 0.2m square
   What is the Height?

0.5 x H (Height) / 2 = 0.2 m square
H= 0.8 m = 80 cm

Because, Triangle's AREA = base x height / 2

0.2m = 20cm,

hints 共同單位

Let H be height,

0.5 X H / 2 = 0.2

0.5 x H /2 x 2 = 0.2 x 2

0.5 x H = 0.4

0.5 X H x 2 = 0.4 x 2

(0.5 x 2) x H = 0.4 x 2

1 x H = 0.8

0.8m = 80 cm

height should be = 80cm

SORRY FOR MISLEADING.

My answer is 0.8cm but the teacher's answer is 80cm.  

Can anybody explain that more?

如你欲以 cm 計算, 因 1m = 100 cm => 1m x 1m = 100cm x 100cm, 所以式子應改為
50 x H  / 2 = 0.2 x 100 x 100
H = 80 (cm)

1m^2 = 100cm x100cm =10 000 cm^2

If your son has problem understanding this, he can try calculating in meters.

(0.5 m x height)/2 = 0.2 m^2

height = 0.8 m i.e. 80 cm

Because,


1m^2 = 100cm x 100cm = 10000cm^2

0.2m^2 = 0.2 (100cm x 100cm) = 2000cm^2

Thus,

50cm x H / 2 = 2000cm^2

50 x H = 2000 x 2

50 x H = 4000

H = 80

如妳直式來除數, 妳可試將 0.5 和 0.4 加上 ( ), 好似咁:-

(0.4) / (0.5) , 當佢係整數咁除就不會 搞亂啦!
