我小朋友，都確定性格上要行IS條路㗎喇，但我debenture真係唔想俾幾百萬咁，應該話，俾唔起..請問有無家長，無foreign passport但都俾咗少少錢（幾十萬內）就入到？

其實我相信冇邊個小朋友係唔適合行IS 既
所以調返轉應該係要諗俾小朋友入is 　之前，家長是否有足夠嘅財力支持可以完成整個ls嘅課程
如果喺入呢啲之前第一關即係債券都唔想買嘅話，我諗都真係比較困難去入is
Esf 好多人都覺得算係比較平50　萬
或者你考慮一下本地I B課程嘅學校可能會適合啲

除非你只target某一間學校，否則唔洗買，只預早Plan好D，小朋友準備好D，點都會入到一間不錯的。
通常入唔到係太遲plan, 或三心兩意攪到兩頭唔到岸。

咁講係因為..讀完本地playgroup,了解小朋友性格先咁講。
有d小朋友，真係自己鍾意考試同分名次㗎，我識人就係當每次考試係表現自己既機會。會考高考都係狀元，讀大學都係從來唔使錢，甚至獎學金多到賺到錢..真係可以有呢種人 (emoji)(emoji)(emoji)(emoji)讀IS浪費佢才能

但如果自細train到考試機器咁，真係對全人發展係最好嗎？
又點解覺得去IS會浪費才能？除非佢只懂死讀書，否則去到IS一様會成績好好，做IB狀元。IS最叻個D唔止讀書叻，係行出來表達/社交/能力都好叻。我見過個由幼稚園開始IS的學生，debate team香港代表, IB45分，Oxford Law+ Stanford 都收咗，拿scholarship 幾百萬，會浪費嗎？其實邊度都有叻人。

我身邊有一個資優小朋友，佢細個遲開始講嘢乜學校都考唔到，結果入咗屋企附近ESF kindergarten，但ESF比到佢好好嘅栽培，可以按自己程度超前學習，而家已經入咗超級名校boarding School。我諗鍾意考試嘅小朋友其實係鍾意挑戰自己，讀IS會有更多挑戰自己嘅機會，你諗吓佢係local School全部嘢都識晒，唔使發力都考滿分，會滿足嗎？我細個都鍾意讀書考試，原因有二：第一，唔讀會俾人鬧甚至打，唯有將讀書變成習慣；第二，考得好先至會有獎品，考得唔好乜都冇。
咁你又細心諗一下你身邊嘅狀元有冇面對呢啲情況？
回覆有關debentures，我屋企都冇外國護照，阿仔幼稚園讀一間冇小學嘅，小學入咗一間冇中學嘅，排咗四年隊，現在入咗ESF，只係year 1時入第一間小學比過三萬蚊refundable debenture。

I think op is referring to debentures that increase your chance of getting an offer for an international school ie those that give priority, and not the ones that many of you are referring above where you have to pay for a debenture or capital levy AFTER receiving an offer (so it’s mandatory and basically just another name for tuition fees imo).

Not sure how much debentures trade at for different schools (the ones that give you priority for offers) but not unusual for them to be more than a million which does place you on a higher priority for those schools - but supposedly still need to pass assessment. ESF is relatively cheaper and only 500k but again you need to pass the assessment.

I’m sure alot of non foreign passport holders at international schools would not have bought debentures and got in in their own right. So I don’t think it’s a must to buy a debenture unless you really really want to go to one particular school.

As per above, much easier for non fp and non debenture holders to get in at the lower year levels and native English is key.

How old is your kid? I think the earlier you apply, the easier it will be...

We have joined a few playgroups to see which one suits him better. We quitted one of them because we had to move and quitted the other one later as he did not enjoy the strict routine there. He is a very curious boy who always loves walking around to learn about everything. In HK local's perspective, he is seen as "not disciplined" as he is not that interested in circle time, not willing to join the queue, etc. I was sort of being doubted by the teachers for not paying my effort to teach my son discipline.. but the fact is I am with him most of the time, and he was not like that at home. He was also having the signs of Trouble Two and now he is just getting better and better with our care and teaching with patience. We are rejected by the pg's pn recently while others in the class receive the offer.

Another reason is that, as I came from 傳統名校, I understand how it works and I do not want my son to learn under the 填鴨system.. I want him to have the intrinsic motivation to learn.

All these made me choose the IS path.

I see, in that case you can put him to Woodland/Tutortime first, see if the more western-style playgroup suits him before making your next move...If it were to suit, then you could look to apply IS in the coming Aug-Oct application season...

Not late at all, you can now join IS playgroup and target IS nursery. Start to do school visits and apply accordingly.

讀IS 讀得叻入大學都可狂拎獎學金。所以你呢點唔係是否讀IS便浪費嘅大原因。

另一樣，佢好鐘意考卷拎第一，本地學校考卷黎表現自己。但如果佢去IS，小學初中無乜考測，佢反而會有好大量時間可參加唔同公開比賽，或者國際比賽，只係個舞台唔同左，但都一樣有好多發揮機會。

Totally agree that having been through the local system, you wouldn't want to put your kids through it again.  However, not all International Schools require debenture or capital levies, like DSC International, Korean International and Invictus.  You may take some time to check the background and curriculum of these schools and see whether they suit your needs.
Being a parent of DSC, my kid is totally enjoying school everyday.  One of the best thing is that the demographic of the student mix is truly international (local student is minority).  For your reference.

據我所知大部分IS debenture都係幾十萬或以下，入咗先買，而唔係買咗增加入讀機會

其實而家仲係好early stage
又唔駛一定要框死自己讀乜
Woodland , small world , city kids ，多多
乜都可以試吓先
其實我好多外國朋友都冇話一定要IS
佢哋有D VEO 收，都揀st Paul church
我呢面西區，我個女d同學all mix 好多人都冇揀woodland ，反而都只係wisely 。認真local 都唔係一定唔ok
Take it easy la
未試過local k 只係playgroup 就話小朋友一定is m我覺得有時讀乜學校，d家長個vibe 都要夾，如果自己純local 背景＇小朋友又會唔會融入到？反而係我自己嘅考慮
