Montessori Dioplma

Does anyone know/ hear about the dioplma course of teaching Montessori which is organized by YMCA w/ North American Montessori Association?

Any comment? is it applicable for one who wants to change her career as a child educator? or teaching a playgroup in HK?

To be a child educator (or kindergarten Teacher) in HK, you need to hold a QKT diploma. So, although Montessori said that it is international recognised, I think it only applied to if you want to teach at a montessori school.

Nevertheless, you may go and query this question on their information day.

I have checked with YMCA this morning and they will have a new course on coming Oct. Just want to check if there is anyone who study this course before? Is it worth to join as it is not cheap!! Please comment.

我想問下你，你知唔知 montessori 的理念係點樣？我有朋友讀過，個人認為，如想學到基本 montessori 的理念，教具的用法，及點樣去教幼兒，去讀下係一件好事，讀完之後，咁你們便會了解到一件 montessori 教具，點解係世界各地買都要咁貴，同埋點解要用好質量的材料。

但如果你的工好忙，咁就唔好去讀，因為d 功課都幾難做，又要返工，又要做功課，你好容易無時間照顧小朋友，如果你係全職媽媽，咁便最好喇。

Thanks for your sharing. I am now reading a book about Montessori theories and searching a lot of information from the web. I basically know her theories. That's why I want to ask more about the course before I decide to take this course or not. I am a working mom and I want to use her theory to teach my baby at home. Hence, I don't know if I am able to complete or have time to do the course and finish the assignment.

If you said it is not easy to complete and may take a lot of times to do them, them maybe it is not a good idea to take it, right?!

i studied this Montessori Diploma (infant-toddler) 3 years ago.

i am a working mom and would like to apply the Montessori theory to my son. This is the main reason i have studied this program.

Overall, it is no doubt that their materials are full and well-explained about Montessori. you will in love of this theory. It is very interesting, practical and useful if you could apply what you have learn of Montessori to your child. Assignment is not that difficult and you would not spend too much time on the assigment .

However, i would say that the fee is very expensive because it is a self-study couse. Worth or not is really depends on how you will apply this theory to your daily life with your child. It is not just an "interesting couse" but you can get a lot of ideas from their materials and it is good for me as a new mom.

I would suggest to buy some books from the bookstore to study about Montessori first to see whether you would like this theory or not.
