My boy is lucky to have these 2 offers, since I am not familiar with CkY/IB, could have some advice? (emoji)

Home distance: same for both schools with 10-15min drive

Study abroad: haven’t decided yet, but even would do so, it would be after year 8/f.3

Expectation to my boy: good presentation skill, strong language on Eng Cantonese and PTH, creative and critical thinking

My boy’s characteristic: strong at maths and interested in STEM (I saw from website that PC is strong at these as well, but maths in CKY is quite easy, afraid he would day dream during maths lesson), like Cantonese more than English as he’s weaker in latter one (so PC would be his comfort zone and I guess can absorb knowledge better, not sure if good or bad), 谷得 but at the same time afraid of boredom (so DSE should be ok for him but might not enjoy)

Other dilemma: PC 校風好, school full of love and support; CKY provides global vision with unbeatable language environment, meanwhile, other forum said it’s secondary school is actually not as well as primary school with (1) high teacher turnover rate (2) local teacher teaching IB (3) rich tutorial atmosphere [for all these 3, I cannot verify, but it would be my concern too if it’s real…hope 用家 could give me some ideas too (emoji)]

In case my boy cannot learn critical thinking in CKY (in care 2 and 3 above were true), does it worth to pay the school fee difference on unbeatable Lang environment and presentation skill, or I can use that amount on English ECA class and achieve the same?

Thanks in advance for your advice (emoji)

我睇完你嘅期望,完全係cky,唔係好覺pc影子

學習能力強的話,去到邊都有機會悶,所以好睇老師點處理同學習模式,一個行自動學習,一個係被動學習....

Maths in cky is relatively easy in terms of addition and subtraction. But the school focuses more on critical thinking than basic calculation. They have a lot of games and activities in classroom eg asking a classmate to guess a shape based on the description of the rest of the class. Or asking them to cut from a piece of paper and do some matching. They are also asked to draw according to instructions and answer some Maths questions. My son has told me once that he felt bored in maths lessons but so far he still likes the school very much.

Also maths is taught in English in cky which means that it may not be that easy. You may also know that Cky has a stem bus at their campus. Their students got awards from stem competitions.
As you said, CKY has unbeatable language environment. My son chats with his classmates in English very naturally even during our gathering outside classroom.

I do think it's the norm for kids studying in Hong Kong to go to tutorials no matter what kind of primary school they are going to. It really depends on the parents. I can't give any comment about the secondary school section as my son is only in P1. General speaking, I'm very satisfied with this school and my son enjoys going to school.

I like PC too. Just thought cky will better suit your expectations.

Thanks.

May I know if there would be 跳班制, e.g. if a student is good at specific subject, can he joins senior class for that subject?

The reason I ask because my boy is K3, with maths level around P3, I am afraid he would be bored and get naughty during maths class. (emoji)
