[size=medium]小朋友今年9月讀k1，都想比佢試下同外國人溝通，認為英國文化協會ok嗎? 值不值得考慮????

我個女都係9月入k1, 到時剛滿3歲, 又係考慮緊呢個course, 不過成3個鐘一堂, 唔知教mug, 會唔會太intensive呢.

Bright Start in English

This course is for children aged 2 ½ - 4 years and aims to support their all round development through the medium of English. English is learned through play and enjoyment just as the child’s first language is learned in a natural way. Children’s natural curiosity and strong desire to communicate assist the language development process.

It offers a fun time for social interaction and play with peers, group work with teachers, singing and story time, which provide excellent opportunities for language acquisition. All instruction / interaction is conducted in English by native English speakers who are qualified and experienced in teaching very young children. This course is not simply a language course it is a known as a ‘content and language’ course.

我表弟仔有玩過呢個course, 其實絕對唔 intensive 架,
大部份時間都係玩同識朋友仔架乍 (因佢係獨仔, 所以就好重要). 加上佢讀英文幼稚園, 佢d英文而家都唔錯

at least 口音純正, 幼稚園老師還說英文堂會找他做助教
不過講到尾.. 成個 course 都只係玩架乍
唔好太太太大期望

I think courses by British Council do not offer much chance for your kid to "communicate with foreigner".

My girl (4 years old) has just started w/ their "Arts & Crafts Summer course". The instructor is native English w/ British accent. Children are encouraged to speak & communicate in English during the class session (but is not mandatory).

I think 英國文化協會, 不值得考慮. Last time I went there before, i think it is not useful for me and it is very expensive. :-x

My son studied at British Council for 1 year when he was at P.1. I didn't see any improvement after a year. There was around 15 students in a class. The teacher doesn't mind the students speaking Cantonese in the class. The teachers there are not demanding, he got very high grade in BC's school report.........So? I can't speak well even for a complete sentence.  All in all, my son learned nothing from British Council.

Last month, my friends told me that "Venture" in Wanchai is a very good English Centre. One of my friends' son always failed at his Eng tests/exams during P.1-3. After 3 years studied there, her son becomes the No.1 of Eng in his class now (he is P.6 & going to be a Secondary school student in Sept). She is proud of his son.  Also, my boss's 2 kids have been learning Eng there from K3 and their Eng foundation is excellent.  He told me many kids with famous parents are learning Eng at Venture (e.g Big Lau's kids)  The most important thing is you have to join Mrs Tanner's class.  I was told that Mrs Tanner is the MD there and she have a "secret/valuable" worksheet paper designed by herself & only kept by herself which helps the students quite a lot.  Mrs Tanner only have 2 types of class: one is typical grammer worksheet class and the other one is composition.

My son went to Venture for interview/assessment with Mrs Tanner this afternoon.  He will join the summer class staring Aug and continuesly the lesson once a week after back to school.  Hope he can have great improvement in the coming year (to be fair, his Eng is not worst. I just want him to upgrade himself)  The fee of Mrs Tanner's class is $385/1.5hrs/lesson. Payment on monthly basis.

My son has been taking courses there since K1. He is now K3.

It is ok for building up his vocabulary and 口音純正 is the thing I like most there.

But children DO speck chinese in class, that what I dislike most..

But I worry teacher's qualification varies a lot in smaller centers. So I will stick with BC for now.

Is this the one you are referring to?

Do you know how many kid per class?
Sounds like traditional classes, right? Better for P1-P6?
