My daughter studied in St Clare for 3 years. All teaches do not have any heart of teaching. Incompetent and lazy. Traditional learning approach, write and memorize, repeat.

The behavior of teacher gave me a big surprise during school picnic. Almost all the teachers are gossip in their little circle without any interaction with kids. They don't show them anything the kids explored. Parents took care their kids most of the time.

Teachers are auntie level without any academics knowledge (except so called certificate). Poor English. Repeat writing and writing in which the kids don't understand.

Every month, the school distributes tones of toys to kids without any educational purpose. I suspect that there is surplus of their budget which will be forfeited if not being spent every year.

You won't expect the school can cultivate any sense of learning.

In general. Disappointed school. Completely waste the time of your children.

PS: I criticize the quality of learning based on the facts I witnessed. See my reply below.

For those reading this thread, please judge yourself

Anyone know what the kids are doing in library?.

SC Approach
1) Teacher sends their kids to library and asks them pick up any book they like
2) Kid reads the "picture" and finish
3) No need to explain to teacher what they have read. Auntie won't bother (never ask from K1 and K3). They need gossip.

Interactive learning (adopted by most of kindergartens today)
1) Same
2) Most of kids at K3 can read the "text" of Oxford Tree Grade 4 or above level
3) Teacher asks the kids what they have read and share with others

People wonder why K3 kids can do step 2. The answer is simple. The school teaches recognition of word instead of writing and memorize. They need to learn "recognition" first. Throughout the days, the kids build up their vocabulary gradually and then have the ability to read the "text".

Someone may wonder whether they need to memorize how to spell the word? Not necessary. If you are talking about memorizing how to spell, you are coming from previous decade (yes, auntie was born, they don't know phonics as well). When the kids know phonics system, they can write it down the precise spelling based on what they hear. Can you see the magic of phonics here? Why do we need to emphasize the phonics today? For SC parent, please go home and ask your daughter whether they can "blend" any words for you. If SC teacher "did" a good job, they could "blend" some simple words for you.

Clear enough? Can you see the difference of learning? I am not interested in wasting my time to entertain these non-sense reply.

Teaching the kids is the responsibility of the teacher; otherwise, we don't need any school. If they do a good job, I fully respect from heart and appreciate. If no, I won't take any picture with them and kiss their ass like "you" to secure any offer in P1.

Hope those parents applying SC distinguish the quality of learning in this "traditional" school. I regret I sent my daughter to this school from IS and wasted her past two years in K1 and K2. In fact, I am happy to accept this situation since this school is not something we expected. Bye.

Matter of fact and truth. Whether the school is good or not, you can judge with your brain, not necessary to speculate.

The purpose of this thread is to let all parents to know how the teachers run this school. If the fact is true, can you tell me this is a school you want?

In this forum, I understand there are many monster parent. Parent association of St Clare I strongly believe is one of them. They are big fans of TSA and support the school to run this meaningless system. Their reasoning is a copy cat of our head of education department.

傳統 doesn't bad. When you see group of teachers gossip (all of them) within their circle throughout the school picnic without any interacting with kids, you can judge how good they are

I am the parent of SC. I believe no school is perfect and I agree that SC has room for improvement. What I have to say is the SC teachers are passionate and they love the children very much!
I don't agree that the school just focuses on writing and memorization. Do you totally understand what your daughter doing in class? They had lots of fun and learned a lot from experiential learning in class.

When you focus on your writing and memorizing, people are teaching "recognition" of words. And then put all words together and read story books.

Not sure whether you have joined the school picnic, you can't understand why they stay in souvenir shop and let parent bring their kids into wet land park. (not once, K1 and K2 same situation. gossip in a corner)

During the entire summer, no homework at home. If they do not intent to accept all kids, do you think it is necessary for them to think about the future of the kids (in case they have been kicked out of their school).

Even the Lucky Draw form, the parents need to get it from Gov District office. The school is managed from their perspective, not for kids or for parents.

其實樓主要面對現實，school picnic 唔係一定要老師同學生一齊玩，親子旅行係俾機會讓父母一齊認識小朋友嘅同學及其他家長，有機會同老師傾吓計，你唔主動唔可以怪老師唔理你...
我認識嘅st Clare, 反而係啲老師好有愛心，小朋友好鍾意返學同好有禮貌，宗教氣氛濃厚。
其實你咁唔鍾意傳統學校，點解要由international school 轉過去？係因為有直屬小學做保險？依家學校唔offer 就出post? 這有點那個....

讀完三年, 明白被放棄後, 徬徨無助的心情, 忿怒擁上心頭, 長路漫漫, 失未必是失, 別的小學可能更適合她呢, 自身性格、家教都好重要, 要讓妳女兒看見妳的豁達、長遠的眼光, 她必定能愉快地成長學習, 一展所長。反之...
