If your target is ISF foundation, there is not better choice. As you said, 70% in mandarin, share one NET teacher between two classes everyday. Playground language English/mandarin. Teachers giving mandarin instructions. No homework/textbook. Kids are well behaved. But you expected a bit " more demanding" in academic than other IS like ESF.

Hi - thanks for your reply. Are you kids studying at the Pre School now? What is the majority of the nationality of the students? From local HK or from Mainland/Westerners?

How many students are there in one class? Do you think this school is more suited for the "active" and "talkative" type of students (i.e those suited for international school) or that they are also suitable for children who generally like discipline and procedure and can sit still? Or the school is quite considerate in accepting different types of students.

I am not studying in this school but I have done some research on it. There are 24/class and majority are Chinese students. I think it's kind of between IS and local school. In fact I heard at least one or two ISF foundation girls have got into DGS. So you can imagine its academic and Chinese level is quite high.

Btw if you are interested, you should pay a school visit to this pre school and even the primary school. You will get more first hand information.

The Pre-School kids went to DGS as well? That is good to know because I am worried the Pre-School's unique curriculum cannot cater for either int'l school or local school....

You didn't attend in the end? Why? You felt it didn't suit your kids?

School fees is another concern as they are so high...

I think the "Chinese" looking students include local HK and mainlanders and ABC, but I guess mainlanders are substantial too. Not much white kids I can see though.
The 1-2 girls going to DGS are exceptions, like I heard kids from ESF got admitted to St Paul co Ed, but you wouldn't pick ESF if St. Paul co ed is your target.
But the target of ISF preschool should be"other IS" rather than local elite school, because it ends at k2, by then if ISF foundation does not accept you, you have to make sure you are still good enough for other IS. (Acceptance rate to ISF foundation is 90%)
If you really really want to learn decent Chinese and you opt for IS style, there is not much alternative and this may be a good choice.
