Very relevant. Also sometimes they pick up bad habits from peers like overspending. The english environment isn't easy due to the cultural differences. I have to admit if you live off-campus picking up the language is harder as you are likely to live with people of the same background. In Australia, we have the exact problem as well. Many after 4 years of (1 year foundation + 3 years of Uni) still have poor spoken English because they just hang in cliques. Never do any extra-curricular activities. Having an accent isn't a problem but not speaking with other english speakers is. All accents can be understood e.g. german, french, nordic etc etc, especially in UK which is a part of Europe. |
