請問有冇家長可解答我的疑問：如只有香港passport, 想入澳洲國際學校是否機會非常非常渺茫？小女4歳，想下年入reception class 的....

因我們只有香港passport, 現階段報下年入year 1 / reception class 真的懇緊張，怕機會不大, 冇任何priority, 如最後一間也不收，我也不知可以怎樣做了... 感覺有點徬徨。

你現在在那𥚃讀緊，本身沒有小學嗎？你的問題很難答，永遠有機會但要視乎有冇位及小朋友表現。

very slim chance for those who have no priority and in lower year..... I did apply for reception 2years ahead and had no feedback from the school at all.

I talked to the admissions staff.few months before, she told me there werent enough seats even.for the siblings, not to mention other australian citizens without any priorities, and her best advice to me was to better put the effort of applications elsewhere..... I think you should apply other schools as a backup plan, other than AIS, good luck!

No, email reply from them was interview chance is very slim and I know there is wait list for the passport holders.

The key to AISHK is to apply EARLY, as in two years ahead, on the FIRST WEEK of January. Few years ago when we applied, my submission reached the school in early Jan and my friend's submission only got there mid-late Jan (both our families has Aussie citizenship). We are talking about two weeks difference. The result? Our son received an interview offer whereas their girls had trouble getting interview even on the second batch (when most of the seats were already taken)....but then again, you never know unless you apply, and if you are keen, i think it's worth it to pay that application fee for just a chance, no matter how slim it may be.

I'm just wondering though, why are you suddenly interested at AISHK when your daughter is already 4 years of age? Has she always been in the International School environment? Did you only realize lately that the greatest challenge is not getting into IS kindergarten but a through-train IS? (or at least one with a primary section / affiliation) Whatever the reason was, don't worry don't stew.

Since you are going for AISHK, i suppose you live on the Kowloon/NT side. There are plenty of options nevertheless, CAIS is one i can think of that usually start a year later than the others so you should apply asap. It is a good school. Other good IS that may have been over looked are NIS (Norwegian) and Hong Lok Yuen. Kingston & Anfield are great schools although many kindergarten students ends up going elsewhere (which means there are more Primary spots for you). There's also a few newer schools as well such as Nord Anglia. Do not worry too much, your child will have an International primary school to go to. If it ends up not being your first choice, you can always wait list and transfer your child to your school of choice in later years. The key is to plan now. Wishing your family all the best!!

Thanks and seems that hk passport holder won't have interview chance. Yes I will try other intl sch as back up, thanks for the info!

I think very slim chance,
because we have australian passport and I want to apply 2017 Jan year 1
They told me many australian applied 2 years prior so pretty much many applicants have priority
所以我有澳洲護照都不容易進都要排隊
香港護照應該更難

Apply first, yes priority is given to Aussie and Kiwi, but still chance available :)

If it happens, how would the Aussie/Kiwi passport holders who don't get admitted feel?
After all, it's Australian International School, which has no obligations to cater for non Aussies / Kiwis.

Right?

Yes, my girl hold Aus passport. My girl got the offer for Prep grade. I submitted the application in Jun 2012 (my girl was born in 2010) and aimed to enter Reception in Jan 2015. Then we wasn't given interview until July 2015. Then we receive an email saying my girl passed the interview for Prep (the app fee $1200 was for 2 year application . if the Reception year is not given interview , they will put you for Prep but given you are submitted 2 year prior ) but no seat offer as no vacancy. Then the school said in the email that there may be chance to add one more new class. Then couple weeks later they called me for an oiffer of Prep seat to my girl for Jan 2016. At the end, we didn't take the offer. The reason is too expensive after when we comparing the school fees of other offers I have in hand. It is really a struggle to give up the offer. However, the Prep year include admin fee mount up monthly payment is $12000 not yet include school bus service also cost about $1800 monthly plus $100K individual debenture . There are another 6 years to come for Primary and 6 year for Secondary and I have a younger one. Given the poor economy, both me and my hubby's jobs are in prviate sector, really risky that we may not able to offer our kids IS education through out to University.
