My son got conditional offer from Tonbridge for year 9. Website says acceptance if passing entrance exam. At last my son passed entrance exam with good grade, but was not accepted. 真捖笨 !!

上年都考過

TONBRIDGE應有2批

一批國際學校, 淺的數學卷

一批本地中學, 深的數學卷

SCIENCE卷一樣

結果OFFER 俾本地中學生掃左

淺的數學卷即使高分/滿分也沒有用

這樣很不公平！較深的數學卷我個仔都話淺。我未有收過Tonbridge 有這樣的安排。如果不收國際學校的學生，早通知呀！不用浪費大家時間。好彩阿仔都入了排名比它高的學校。不過條氣唔順，講出來給大家知。

They really favor local school students over international school students so seriously? My son applied for Year 10 in 2014, was put on the top of their waiting list. I was told that he did excellently in Math paper, and pretty well in English paper, but yet not competitive enough to 'beat' his 'competition to get the place (only 3 places for Year 10).
It's not fair not giving a chance for the IS students to try a more difficult paper. My son actually is doing pre-calculus math of EPGY already (Grade 10/11 math in the US?), so I guess he might be able to get a high mark for even the extended math paper, but he wasn't offered a chance!
Anyways, this is the brutal reality of the real world! Maybe it's good to let the kids experience it earlier.

Maths 卷你問學校囉佢有機會俾你

Tonbridge

Grade 9 maths 有llower tier 版。

我個時考時周圍揾晒不同學校grade 9 的卷。

Science 卷問題也許你對我記錯。但數學卷我應冇記錯

存在2個版本我考的是yr 9.

AA 考嗎? 可問返AA ( 我冇聽錯的話上年 12人考淺數學卷冇人有offer)

曾經向agent 要求考較深那份數學卷，但agent 話國際學校學生只可考較淺那份。都未考又知國際學生數學吾掂？

no one told us we can ask for the high level paper. I did not know there are two papers before we took the exam. we were very upset when we got the result, but now 回心一諗，當我阿Q, maybe this is 天意/緣分，if the school strongly prefers LS students, my son really may not be their cup of tea, as he has been studying in IS since pre school. he might have serious hard time competing with the LS elite students there in UK top schools.

Btw, 反而 Charterhouse asked the students if they are native in English so to give them higher level English paper! I did not know the "trick" when filling out the application form though, and made the mistake of letting my son did higher level English paper and lower level Math paper, while his capabilities in these subjects are actually the other way round (I.e. strong in Math, weaker in English)

我唔順氣是因為學校選擇學生原來一早定了，那為什麼不寫清楚？浪費他人的時間！還好意思說今年競爭很激列，費話！!

Priorities are always given to locals. Less admin work and have met parents during school visit. 你係香港學校都想佢收咗香港人先啦！

Besides, it's always better not to go through agents.

I don't think the admin work is less. I visited the school too. My son is also Hongkonger. The agent is also very bad and wouldn't tell you the truth.

I think they are talking about priorities given to students from Hong Kong local schools (eg SPCC, DGS, DBS) over those from Hong Kong international schools (eg ESF, FIS, GSIS), NOT priorities given to UK local students over HK students.
