Just off the top of my head, i can think of Malaysia already. What about English in India?

The medium of instruciton in the public primary schools of Malaysia is Malay, Chinese (Mandarin) or Tamil.

英文重要是因為科枝，貿易……以西方為重心！西方向下，中國向上！10-20年後，中國取代美國已是不爭的事實！為何還要别人的語言！

不錯, 就算美國咁強大，都有外語課。好平常，也是應該。但象香港一樣，却是少見。

據我觀察所得，國家是否富強，最重要是看科技是否發達。英文要讀，但讀唔到嘅，千祈別勉強。全國咁多人，一定有人英文好，有人英文差。阿英語哥想睇原汁外語片，睇飽佢，唔識，看字看翻譯也可。英文，應是一種技能，不應是一種關卡。不應拿來做為大學入學試科目，拿他來隔阻一些欠缺英語基礎而其他條件優秀的人入大學。

What about English in India?

幾年前睇一本關於中印戰争之書籍，書中提到當時印度獨立不久，軍官以說英語為榮，軍官階級，一律以英語交談。可以想像，當時紙英語幾咁重要，佢嘅重要性，不在乎英文有咩增值，而係在乎唔識英文冇得向上爬。結果，軍官與士兵政令不通，這是印度在中印戰争中大敗嘅一個原因。

其實，大陸一黨專政，既得利益者，有大把誘因，去提高英語的"重要性"，就象中印戰争嘅印度一樣。

將注意力擺在英文，肯定不能。但是，如果能讓國人自由競争，科技，我睇唔出為何不可！張五常常說，人類歷史中，中國係近呢幾百年才大落後。
