Hi, I am parent of current P.1 student. Today, I just received my daughter's first term report. My daughter is coming from a Anglo-chinese kindergarten (mainly speaking cantonese). She is able to speak well to very good English after first term (sep to Feb). Very good classmasters who will phone U to discuss your child's need after a month. There are five subject based on 100 marks in first term. My daughter got 98 in Maths (taught in full English); 92 in English; 70 in Putonghu; 80 in Chinese and 85 in Thematic Studies. Ave mark is 85. Basically, No problem in English environment. Although my daughter's weakness is in Chinese & Putonghua, teachers did not give us any pressure. On the contracy, my daughter is awarded "Monthly Improvement Award" due to improvement made in Chinese. Today is parent's day. The classmaster told us that my daughter was quite passive and did not actively involve class discussion. Therefore, she arranges a reading & presentation tarining lesson for my child and her classmates every Mon afterschool to read story books. NO pressure imposed. Just want to strengthen her weakness. Teachers are very satisifed with my daughter's academic performance with ave mark over 85. So be patient. A good English study environment. My daughter starts to speak English (full sentence) every day. Should any thing else, pls post me. |
