Re: What to do about your brain injured course

gongonma,

I got trained in this kind of course. As far as I know, Janet Doman will not fly to Sing. to held the course, but via video conferencing instead, i.e. she is still in Philadephia and you have to attend in a hall room with some 50 parents for total 5 days.

The course fee in USA is US$1000, I'm not sure about the fee in Sing. but you've to add flight charge, board and lodging etc. , which I believed summed up over HK$25,000.

Hope this can help.

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

SLI,

Really,  janet doman will not in sing??
I better check with the organizer. Also, have u attend this course before ??

Hayb mum,

the course fee is US$1000/person and $1400 for a couple. And there is a administration fee for around S$500 person, which is for lectures notes and the hote seminar hall and lunches too.

The total cost I cal for a couple ( 2 person) is around $23-25K.

both my hubby and I interested on this, but we not yet confirm yet. I think it is costly, my hubby think this is important to train our girl before 6 years old.

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

Dear all,

I got trained in the course for well children, and my relative got trained in the course for brain-injured kids 4 years ago.

I've been helping her to train her son in Doamn's approach for more than 3 years and the progress is OK for his special case.

ST : you've better check clearly if Janet would come to Sing or not , and I would suggest you to attend the course in USA instead , where there would be adequate supporting staff there to address your needs and possible queries, you can also bring your kid for accessment too.

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

ST,

Yes, I got trained in US and met Glenn Doman, his wife , Janet Doamn and Douglas Doamn, also Glenn's grandsons , and have discussions with them.

The round-trip ticket to Philadephia costs  ~HK$6000 , with tuition fee , and board and lodging etc. will sum up to HK$20,000 - 25,000 ( for one single person) ; if you travel with your husband and your daughter ,then the total cost would be ~HK$45,000 - $50,000 . But I recommend you go there instead for the reasons that I've already mentioned.

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

SLI,

If bring the kid, will there be any service for taking care the kids in Glenn's Philadephia centre?  It will be difficult for parents to attend the training together with the kid.

What's the problem of your relative's kid?  How's the improvement of him/her after the training?

May be you can talk about this with us when we meet you at the lunch of next Tue.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

HayBMum,

The centre (IAHP) has the service that can take care of the kids, they have ~ 50 years of experience in this field. They will access your kids and devise a tailor-made program for them individually , subsequent semi-annual follow-up visit ( nearest in Japan ) to review the progress and see if any changes in the program contents are needed. So the trip would not be one off and substantial amount of money is needed.

Whether parents can attend the course together with kids depends upon the situation of the kids .

The problem of my relative's son is cerebral epilepsy, which hinders his physical and cognitive growth. He improved quite a lot in these areas , his right brain potentail development is extremely good.

His idol is Einstein and he is writing an essay about Physics at pre-U level at age of just 5) .

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

Gongonma,

IAHP would only train you to train your own kid , that means that you would probably know to deal with kids of similiar situations, but not generally apply to all cases.
IAHP haven't recognised any trainer rather than those trained within their own organization worldwide ( USA, Brazil, Japan etc.).

I would not suggest you to take the course since they will only tell you how to deal and train your own kid with dylexia , but not knowing to aplly to other cases. Unless your training progress makes no further improvement.

My special background and years of experience in this field allow me to know the underlying principles , techniques and skills to help these kids.

Being a non-profit-making organization, the income of IAHP depends mainly on the tuition fee of courses, donation and sponsorship. The tuition fee itself is not that expensive, but the relating costs like flight, board and lodging etc adding up to a big amount. Also the subsequent semi-annual follow-up visit would cost quite a lot on a continuous basis.

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

Dear SLI,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Since, I've work is closed to school, so I have interested whether can use my experience to help others kid (Free), not planning to be any trianner.  knowing that is long road to be a trainner.... & now what important thing to me is the teach my dyslexic boy to be normal, should be said as how can i guide him to develop his gift & overcome his weakness.
BTW, his training now is satified.  Just want to know more whether I can do more better to assist my boy!

As conclusion this course seems not suit for me.  right?  pls comment.

Many Many thanks,

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

Vivi,

The course will be splited into 2 parts : 1st 5-day course will focus in theory , application and techniques. You don't need to bring your kid in this part (this part you can attend in Japan, Singapore or USA). The theory part will focus on how the brain functions, what the possible causes of damages and the most important are the methods for improvement. Since it's not specific to anyone, the coverage is much more a general approach.

Then the 2nd  ( on 2nd trip) 2-day consultation session , you need to bring your kid for accessment and tailor-make a home-training program. You would need 2 adults to take care your kid while attend to the session ( must be in IAHP USA). After that you would probably need to visit there ( either in Japan or USA) every semi-annually to check for progress or any changes of the program needed. So it's a long and hard journey.

When I visited there, I stayed in a B&B motel nearby ( there are many nearby at walking distance if you're not driving ) and many restaurants or food stores around ( you can cook your own or dine out) . IAHP has prepared various meals and food ( breakfast, lunch and even dinner to suit your special need ). No need to worry about this aspect.

I found the course worthwhile since I also attended other course on the same trip to make the most of it. Since I don't anything about your girl, so I can't advise if it's of great value to you or not.
You can feel free to ask me if I can be any help to you.

Re: What to do about your brain injured course

Gongonma,

I don't really sure if the course suit you or not. IAHP have trained many dylexic kids successfully , quite a no. of them even exceed normal and excel . But surely it's a long and hard journey , you need to prepare to allocate much resources ( time, money and effort) to join the course and then the training program.

Of course, the improvement and progress varies case by case and only God knows if the program can bring your kid to normal. In other topic, I can see much progress of your kid using Doman's training approach , congratulation to your effort.

I would suggest you to keep on the effort and progress until you're stuck to find any further improvement. At that time it's much more worthwhile to attend the course since you're experienced with the training approach already. Hope this can help.
