In the article, she described thecompetition of both JUPAS and Non-JUAPS are become much keener in 2013.According to HKEAA, the participants number increased from 71,000 (2012) to82,198 (2013), as number of places under UGC are the same, so toughercompetition in JUPAS. [ANChan59’s comment - If we assume11,500~12,000 are JUPAS places this year, so the chance will be 14-14.5%,relative to last year’s 20% admission rate due to one off “Double Cohorts Effect”.]
Refer to ESF, more local ESF students aimfor HK universities, 2011 is 16%, this year around 20-25%. So the competitionfor NJ also increased. On top of IB, more and more students took GCE AL asother qualifications for NJ in HK.
Professor John Spinks, Chairman of HKU’sadmission committee, said that the JUPAS students have a better chancesucceeding than NJ applicants, on the basis of applicant per place. Also seekfor comments from HK Wah Yan and Shatin Tsun Tsin’s principals.
Most students doing well in HKDSE, thoughthe language requirement is main hurdle for them. Grant Schools students drillon Chinese subject, to ensure better chance to get a place through JUPAS. |
