I would not say it is a waste of time to think about it now, because St Paul's result has already come out. DGJS result is expected in December.

I would choose DGS because I live in Kowloon side and the school fees of DGS is cheaper.

But both schools are very good schools. The kids should be very very very smart to enter both schools.

兩間都好, 但我會選女拔.

女拔學生很像較為全面, 好似十項全能, 我有一朋友畢業於瑪利諾, 但佢在讀書時亦很羨慕女拔學生, 學得佢地特別叻.

I agree that it is not early to think about the question. In fact, quite a great diff between two schools :
1. single sex and co-edu school
2. kowloon side and HK side
3.DGS is strong in both sport and music.

But how about if the girl's character is not so open and not interest in sport or music? Is St. Paul weak in academic and social aspects when comparing with DGS?

I think if the girl's character is bashful & not good at sport or music, It's hardly for both schools to offer her a place unless she has a very unique family or religion background. Both schools do not only emphasize on academic achievement, but also extra-curriculum activities achievement.

It 's no doubt that DGS' girls has gained a lot of awards in recent years. It may be ranked as the best girl school in HK.

I still think St Paul Co-ed will also nurture more & more elites in very nearest future since it has been converted as DSS.The school has its own perferences to choose outstanding students & good standard of parents. Also, the human & educational resources should be much better than before. (school fee $48,000 p.a. + gov't subsidy +donation)

I also suggested the girl (in your case) should go to international school to train her confidence & creative mind if the parent can afford the high school fee.

I know that DGS will not let a girl join an athletic team and not even let her practice if she is not good enough. In may primary schools, if a student is very interested in a certain sports and would like to join team practice, some arrangements will always be made (let the girl practice in an improvement class). But I know some friend whose daughter was shut out of team practicing because she was not good enough (she is 1st in her previous school).

Is DGS,the best girl school in HK, only take concern of those girl with talents in sport or music ? If a girl just performs ordinary in academic or extra-activities, will she be happy in the environment or can she obtain sufficent nurture from the school?

Both are excellent school.

If I'm living in Kowloon, I will choose DGJS.
If I'm living in HK Side, I will choose St.Paul Co-ed.

It may be too narrow to call a school good / no good; or this school is better than the other school.

My way is - whether this school is MORE SUITABLE for my child.

Open up an Excel sheet, list out several parameters like location, $, academic, language, sport/music, moral education etc etc etc, than you know which is MORE SUITABLE.

As long as you've calculated all the necessary factors, you won't end up at a wrong decision.

問good hope or Maryknoll, my friend needs to work all day. her daughter got Maryknoll in 1st round. how she choose? of course she is still waiting for DGJS lah
