Re: St.Mary 及瑪利諾是否要法文呢?
In the good old days, elite schools in HK (Maryknoll/Marymount, St Paul's Convent, St Joseph's, DBS, DGS, etc) used to take in a lot of Eurasian students whose mother tongue was not Chinese. Hence they need a language other than English and therefore French is offered.
Since HK deteriorated under PRC rule, there are fewer and fewer Eurasians in HK and no one takes English seriously anyway (let alone anything non-Chinese). Therefore I would expect fewer and fewer schools to offer French. But, "even a broken ship has three catties of nail", and traditional elite schools would still offer a token French course, but probably those who take French will not be Eurasians any more. |
