Firstly, it should be band 1 not brand 1 la!
Secondly, I heard there are no such thing as band 1 schools. Because there are band 1 students only.
For primary school: We call them band 1 school because many of their students ranked band 1 and have priority to choose their school first.
For secondary school: if many of those band 1 students choose a school that school became "band 1" school.
So band 1 school is the school that is preferred by many band 1 students (top students).
By the way, now we have only three band (1-3), so not "so top students" can be in the same school of "top students"
