I'm an RC parent, RC Primary is proposing a 4.5 day week (i.e. weekly 1:00pm early release on Fridays) starting this coming academic 2012/13 year...the school says it is all good because teachers can have more time to have meetings to plan lessons/curriculum and discuss student progress, etc., but most parents think otherwise. Please share your thoughts?

Still under Consultation with parents.   Don't see it happening this coming academic year.

Not quite sure about this, the school seems very firm on this new 4.5 day timetable idea.  Could this really be a good thing?

We are still fighting against this proposal. If you're RC's parents, pls submit the survey and state your point of view. Otherwise, the school management would give away the learning hours of the kids to the meetings from Aug!

A number of parents and I are going to meet with the parents teachers assoc. to discuss this issue and see if there are other actions that the parents can take to get our message across to the college council. We find that the survey is misleading and want to submit an independent document to the council.

Are there any parents out there who actually support this new timetable?

I agree the idea of "collaboration", but I don't agree to cut teaching time. There are many other alternative ways to solve this issue. Why must choose cutting time?
