【明報專訊】首屆中學文憑試尚有4個月便開考，根據考評局早前公布，本港共有151名考生報考8科，挑戰成為首屆八優狀元。據新推出的《中學概覽2011》，全港有15所官津名校容許高中生報考4個選修科，包括英皇、皇仁等傳統名校。有校長透露，學生難以應付太多選修，早於升中六時退修部分科目，相信會令文憑試狀元更見罕有。

部分學生中六退修

據考評局規定，日校文憑試考生必須報考中、英、數、通識4個必修科。至於選修科則最多可報考4科，當中包括3個文、理、商術科，再加1科外語、體藝或應用學習科目。

最新出版的《中學概覽》顯示，共有15所名校列出新高中學生可選修4個選修科（見表），當中除包括傳統英中如英皇、皇仁、著名中中培正，亦包括地區名校董玉娣中學、鄧顯紀念中學等。

其中，位於葵青區的天主教母佑會蕭明中學，副校長尤惠萍接受本報查詢時指出，校方要求高中生修讀3個選修科及數學延伸部分單元一（M1），學生升中五時可選擇增修宗教或自修音樂作為第4個選修。她表示，去年共有4名中五生修讀4科選修及M1，但在今年開學前，4人分別決定退修M1或1個選修，惟該校仍有現屆中六生堅持報考8科。

兼顧延伸單元 等同修9科

尤副校長指出，雖然不少大學不視M1為獨立科，但該科工作量根本等同1科，學生變相讀4科主修加5科選修，備試壓力極為沈重。對於學生退修情，她指校方會尊重學生意願，不會強迫他們修讀若干科數。

稱首屆較保守 多主攻術科

東華三院甲寅年總理中學開辦音樂科為第4個選修，校長黃詩麗指出，應屆文憑試考生中無人選修4科，原因是首屆應考，相信同學採較保守策略，先集中火力攻讀術科。

現時該校僅1名中五生報讀8科，而中四則有數名學生報讀，校方會加強監察和輔導這些學生。黃校長相信，隨覑學界漸漸熟習新高中學制，會有更多學生按興趣挑戰8科。

學友社：溫習需作取捨

學友社學生輔導中心總幹事列豪章相信，報8科的學生應有能力應付工作量，相信有關中學亦有豐富經驗，能為考生提供充足支援。惟現時已踏入備試最後階段，即使一般修讀3科選修學生亦需每日溫習至晚上7、8時，相信考4科選修的學生需花更多時間頻密操練。他建議考生製訂時間表，平衡溫習、作息。如真的難以應付，溫習時應作出取捨，切忌為當狀元而勉強。

狄志遠：不應為做狀元入學

【明報專訊】15所傳統名校列明容許高中生報讀4個選修科，香港家庭教育學院主席狄志遠表示，如家長認為子女能力較高，希望挑戰4個選修科目，亦屬無可厚非，但事先必須細心考慮子女能力，不應為造就狀元而勉強，逼迫子女擠進所謂的狀元學校。

另外，本報發現少數中學沒有在《概覽》中列明高中選修科的數目及組合，部分中學需要另外連結至學校網頁，方可逐步查看。

新高中結構複雜 「有疑問直接問」

狄志遠認為，由於新高中課程結構比較複雜，《概覽》有必要詳盡披露選科的細節，供家長參考。他說：「如部分學校容許學生於升中五時，因應表現及能力退修科目，這些細則都應該列出來。如家長仍有疑問，應向學校直接查問。」

除部分修4科的名校外，部分供修3個選修科的學校亦同時開辦西班牙語、日語、體育、音樂及藝術等科目，即學生最多可報考8科，故相信學界仍存在不少漏網名校，可能出產首屆文憑試8優狀元，成為新一代「狀元搖籃」。

以前傳媒炒作十優新聞，將來會是炒作八優狀元，一線band 1中學為增取有狀元，雙雙開4科選修科給學生可報讀，將來會更多中學開四科選修科........又是新一輪戰場。

I fully agree with kenfu's opinion, school should be transparent rather than just showing big names. alumni magazine sometimes tells a lot.

Valid points, but no matter what you say, elite schools still have the market......
I am lucky enough to have limited experience of elite school, it's pretty not the same as some good schools. I will share with you in PM.

Our EDB should allow our schools to disclose more info related to the achievements of the schools, like the % of bandings.... Just see so many parents don't know such important info....

Primary school should list the % of banding and the destination of secondary, the % of lucky draw vs self discretion. That's the min.

Secondar school should list the % of passing grades, and the info similar to ch1970..... As parents, I would like to know their university destinations both local and overseas........

A principal told me that she had the banding info, she can't talk about that publicly and use that as promotion......  I suspect the body to blame is EDB and then schools, not just elite schools but also other bandings....

They should add Lam Woo, Tang Hin and Cheung Chuk San...... on the list. Those are up and coming great schools..... You know I also admire CCSC 5 yrs ago.

同意、學校一向只公報入大學人數，因為全部成績差的已經在中五時被飛走晒，留得來讀中六，成績都唔差，所以名校的入大學率一向好高。

Be fair, it's the same for all schools not just elite schools.
Can you and Kenfu tell me which school(s) will take 100% F5 students to F6 and F7 for HKALE? If not, so.....

In the past few years, under HKCEE, most students got 6A or above were admitted to the hk universities under the Early Admission Scheme (EAS) after finishing F.6. Therefore, the result of the A-level of the "elite" schools are not "so" good as the best students had entered university already.

However, under HKDSE, there is no EAS, the results may better reflect the overall standard of the schools. Let's see. (Of course, there are quite a number of students choose not to take HKDSE and went overseas.)
