我覺得CKY未必看這些證書，劍橋試著重串字，CKY interview都不考這些。我女考11間3間IB type的，其他主流，所有主流不是reject就是waiting.但三間IB卻全部取錄，包括CKY, 所以我覺得學校是pick某類學生的。不是那類學生未必有機會，入了也未必適合。你其他的waiting也是好學校，我建議你從中去選擇叩門。
我女去年考了starter, 全15盾，但今天再看，她許多串了的字都忘記，結果是知識未能鞏固只有證書，那不是我的原意，而當時的過程也讓我很勞氣，所以覺得不值得。當然若小朋友能藉考試，串字更上一層樓，或英文再進步的，那卻是值得的。

我就覺得既然都未仲有野揸手,唔洗理佢睇唔睇既喎,點都要用來update下D學校,咁先係有誠意架麻.所以應該盡量send去,唔好放過.

叩門時面試應是最重要, 你仔的英文能力咁好不用擔心, 反而想想辦法幫他調節心情, 在面試時盡量發揮吧。

好多學校不是單看學術上的表現,還有整體表現,如:禮貌,談吐,自信,自理,表達,儀容和相處等等,現今的學校再不是只顧成績,還需要在音樂,體育和各種公開賽有好表現的學生,要有全面發展或要平均,缺一都是學校考慮是否取錄小朋友的因素。

Maybe a letter handwritten by your son to CKY, GT (or any school your son likes) will help more than the Movers' certificate.

Not to be offensive, but from my view, I found that handwritten letter by kids are not helpful, because the school usually believe that the kids are just copying whatever the parents write, and not really written by the kids themselves (they are only 5 years old). Of course, if you think it works, do whatever you can. It would not hurt, right?

我想請問你囝囝在優才是1st waiting list或只是在waiting list內, 因我侄仔也是在1st waiting list內, 而學校沒有叫他去2nd interview, 只是在上星期收到電話說有offer給他,並叫他爸媽去交留位費然後繼續上每月一次的課程便可.

你們到學校2nd interview時多不多小朋友呀?你有否繼續上課程呢?或者你堅持上課程遲些會有offer給你!其實我也很明白你現時的心情!為你打氣~~~

Not at all. It's just sharing.

Actually, the principal can tell or verify easily whether a letter is written by kids or not.

Believe it or not, a kid who was not selected after final interview by a popular primary school has wrote a simlpe letter asking the principal why he/she is not accepted. After receiving the letter, the principal gave the kid a call to talk and offered the kid a place.

Seeing the good English foundation, I trust the postmaster's son can write a simple letter to express himself. This should be more impressive than those starters or movers cert.

It would not hurt to give a try.

On my son's experience, certifications are useless for p1 admission. He got very good academic results on English and Maths examinations, but he couldn't enter 2nd IN of the famous traditional schools but got offers from some new popular schools , e.g. CKY, TSL, etc.
It is very helpful for interview if reading more books and encouraging to ask questions at home.

多幾張CERT 應該會好D, 不過CERT係死, 人係生... 最緊要小朋友面試時的表現.. 努力..

經過小一admission, 我都覺得最緊要都係小朋友面試既表現. 其他cert. or 獎項都只不過係錦上添花. 我仔仔無考過cambridge 亦無其他獎狀, 幸運地都考到你所提及的學校 (cky無考除外).
不過, 你唔洗擔心呀, 6月大抽獎後, 好多人會放位, 到時學校都會call waiting補上. 所以suggest你keep住寫信去心儀學校. 等學校知道你既誠意, 到時有位可以會call你呀.  唔好放棄, 加油...努力!
