My son is in K3 PTH/ENG class. I can say the lanuage environment in school is excellent and this is what I want.
The teachers encourage students to share their opinion, go out to present in front of classmates and small group discussions. As you said, the students are generally presentable.
The Chinese and English levels are both good, learn a lot of words, have dictation from K3 1st term, will have weekly journal from K3 2nd term. The Maths syllabus emphasizes on understanding of Maths concept and the school has not yet put much focus on training the speed and accuracy of addition and subtraction. I let my kid study Enopi Math to improve Math skills.
In terms of homework, K2 and K3 students have 3 homework everyday. In K3, 3 homework includes writing one page of Chinese words, one page of English words and a worksheet - language or Maths. Making sentence in Chinese & English every week (this is what my kid likes most). During weekend will have some more homework. During long holiday has a special exercise book to complete.
The school provide excellent support for P1 interview, they provide altogether 20 lessons free of charge interview class to K2 (2nd term) and K3 (1st term) students. The interview class is held on Satuaday and is 1.5 hour per lesson. Each lesson includes mock interview by teachers that the students are not familar with and the mock interview is conducted in Cantonese, English and Madarin in different weeks, group game, exercise, etc. In addition to the interview class, the school provide a lot of interview type exercises for students to practice at home with parents, such as listening, reading comprehension, games, creative drawing, game cards to tell story, etc. These exercises are done on a voluntary basis and do not need to submit to school. Really is many and sometimes we don't have enough time to finish at home......
My kid got several primary school offers so far - WKF, Pui Kiu, TSL, ICQM, TT. Still have some more interviews for other schools. |
