If I were the principal, I would look more into the substance of the application, rather than superficial appearance; I would observe whether the parents would spend their money and effort on educating their children and promoting their interests, rather than on trying make their children look better by taking photos in a studio.
Just as one of the threads mentioned, the purpose of taking photos in a studio seems to be just making parents feel better for "having done everything". The effect of the photo, if it carries any weight, is minimal.
