St. Stephen's Prep. School has no Native English speaking teachers teaching there. They have Indians, Filipino, Nepalese, Polish, South African, Local Hong Kong Chinese and Taiwanese teaching there.
None of these non-native English speaking teachers are educated in any native English speaking countries and my son and his friends told me they were even speaking in their own languages on the phones or to each other (the Indians only).
I think there was only a British Chinese teacher teaching there but she is not teaching my son. I found these non-native English speaking teachers make a lot of common mistakes in their speaking and writing, even on the worksheets and test paper. Markings are terrible; they could not even pick up simple mistakes.
In the previous years, they had a few good NET teachers, but they had chosen to leave the school. My husband and I are planning to withdraw our son from the school after this summer as it is not worth it to pay HK$5500 + other charges (approx.HK$ 9k) a month for the third world teachers to teach my son.
I suggest to parents, send your children to the local schools rather than considering St. Stephen's Prep. School. I rather my child to learn Chinglish than to learn a mixture of wrong English!!! |
