We are a Christian family, we decided for our boy from day one, must be Chrisitian nursery, kindergarten and primary school.
In secondary school admission, we faced the difficulty that no good Christian EMI sceondary school in our district. We struggled to choose SS with different religions or not.
I discussed with my head pastor, he recommended us to stick to Christian or non-religion schools. His rationale is my boy educated in Christian school, even he may backslide from the religion due to whatever reasons, but the Christian upbring and network (The SS network is stronger than family)from the school will bring him back to the Lord somewhere sometime.
We took his advice, only applied 2 DSS, one rejected and the other one was waiting list. After some ups and downs, finally he got in a very good DSS Christian school which rejected him before.
After the admission exercise, I asked him what he learnt from that. He said, if he could get in the school in round 1, he thought it's because he is smart; but in round 2, he could see the blessing from the Lord.
We are the role models of our kids, we can stick to principle, but we may suffer together by going through "narrow door". We can being street smart and take some advantage from there, our kids will observe and model on our value systems.........
Their future and education not just from school, also from the family........
I am not critise Christian parents send their kids to Catholice schools or vice versa. We are adults, we know what we are struggling and aim at providing the best to our kids. |
