如題，唔知道KV出來的小朋友，在適應SMC的教學模式上，有遇到困難嗎？學習成績如何？可分享自己或其他家長的經驗嗎？

My son is from KV.  He is OK with everything in SMC up to now.  I only worried he couldn't understand the NET teacher before.  However, he said he can understand and everthing is fine.

咁作為家長有什麼可以幫小朋友適應小一的生活, 就你所知,其實多唔多KV生入讀SMC?

As I know, there are 3 KV students studying in P1 now.  

When my son applied DSS or private school last year, we only targeted on SMC and TSL or EC which are all English Primary Schools.  Therefore, I really help him a lot on English and Mandarin by myself.  

As you know, KV has no NET or mandarin teacher.  Below is what I did to make him get ready to go to English Primary School.

1.  Talk to him in English at home.
2.  Read Chinese book with him in mandarin everyday and join the Kumon Mandarin from K3 summer.
3.  My son and I learned the jolly phonics together since K2 and used
4.  Read English story book with him everyday.

in my case,
1) we only read english story book or chinese book in Cantoese at home before go to bed.
2) join phonics lessons outside at K.2 2nd term every Sun.
3) study Kumon maths(k.2 1st term) , english and chinese (k.2-k.3 summer) at every Sat.
4) attend ESF kindergarten english programmes at every Sat.
Is that enough to the kid?

For me, I guess it is enough.  

By the way, which class is your son studying in KV?

My youngest son is studying K3S in KV this year.  He will have second interview this coming Friday.  If he get an offer from SMC, they will be classmates in this coming P1.  

Is SMC your final choice?

I don't read Chinese books in Mandarin to my daughter normally.. but she learns Chinese in Mandarin at the kindergarten now. DO you think it would be good enough?

We didn't get an offer from TSL last year so it should be another way round - SMC chose my son or should say - God chose it for my son (as I just tried my best and leave it to God)so I believe it should be the best school to my son.

As my son didn't learn mandarin from KV, I taught him mandarin via reading the chinese book everyday.  If his kindergarten has mandarin, maybe I will not do this.  

I guess it is enough as long as your daughter is learning mandarin in the school everyday.

Actually, I only spent around 10 mins - 15 mins per day to read the Chinese book with my sons everyday.

My son was 1F, 2I, 3K at KV, SMC is now the best choice for us, even the other not finish the results. How about u? Are the kids met before?

We will definately go for SMC if we have an offer as we are happy with the school up to now.

Hopefully, we can have an offer after this Friday interview so that they can be classmates in SMC again.

Thx for yr sharing. My son,Herrick, is in K3S now.  I've asked Ms Lee during 2nd interview that there's no need to attend extra Mandarin class as students would pick up very soon.  In order to let him adapt earlier, i'll let him continue his Mand. class.

It's the best one among the offers he got. still wait for the result of KTS. My hubby likes it very much for its language environment.

On the day of registration, i saw so many outsiders (maid + elders) sitting opposite to the snack area, do u know why?
