我既小朋友其實讀緊N1,佢開心程度一般,喺屋企都會成日唱住學校教既歌仔,但又吾會講好想番學,到而家,有時都仲會扭計吾番學添!

另外有d家長都話佢地既仔/女都好似吾係讀得好開心,都有話吾想番!大家感覺上,N1都無想像中咁好!

所以我想請問下小朋友讀緊K1-3既家長,你地仔女喺蘇浙又讀得開吾開心?我諗緊如果咁好彩到時收番讀K1,而又有其他好選擇,咁係咪繼續讀落去?佢最吸引就係普通話!!

我有個親戚話係咪d老師好惡,或吾夠愛心?因為呢個年紀既小朋友番左一段時間,應該愈來愈鍾意番學....... : (

大家可以俾d意見嗎?tks!

不過, 想問下有無家長知道上年升小學嘅成績呢? 因為網上無資料.

我想請問下小朋友讀緊K1-3既家長,你地仔女喺蘇浙又讀得開吾開心? Pingu_k, I think you only need to concern if your kid like going to KCS or not.  Other children happy may not mean your kid will be happy too.  But for your reference, my kid super enjoys going to KCS PN and KG.  She even begs me to take her to school when she is sick and during summer vacation.  All the kids I know in my kid's class  enjoy going to school very much.
我諗緊如果咁好彩到時收番讀K1,而又有其他好選擇,咁係咪繼續讀落去?佢最吸引就係普通話!!  I think it all depends on what offers you have on hand and how much you weight Mandarine.

我有個親戚話係咪d老師好惡,或吾夠愛心?因為呢個年紀既小朋友番左一段時間,應該愈來愈鍾意番學.......  : (  I think all schools are the same, has nice and not very nice teachers.......if you want to understand the teachers more, you need to speak to them more.  One of the means is you go to school with your kid in the morning if possible.  If not, give the teachers a call to have a progess update of your kid. To me, always nice may not be good sometimes......I prefer the teacher to be strict when my kid has done something wrong.

Dear Sorb,
我都知人人反應會吾同,但因為我個小朋友同其他既同學仔都有上述反應,所以想再了解下in general,K1-3既情況如何,好似平時都會有家長對某間幼稚園會有類似"呢間係一間(對大部份小朋友而言)開心既幼稚園(e.g.靈糧堂)"呢種comment......

Dear Sorb,

May I know how is the communication btw the teacher and parents? Are they making many calls or keen tell you any special thing that happened to your kid at school eg if your kid hurt or etc, will the teacher call you to explain what happened in the same day?

My girl was in Kinder before. The teacher is nice. There is a phone contact at the back page of the handbook and you could give them a call during office hour. If you can't find them straight, then leave a message and they will call you back. So far at that time, my girl like the school very much.
But one of the reason that kids does not like school mght be becasue
1) teacher: you need to find this out as we do not know all of the teachers.
2) Schoolmates: but most nursery students are still very self centre, they still does not have the eagerness to play with others unless they are very outgoing.
3) They just do not like to go to school as they like home better. Or sometimes the teacher just does not response to the way the children would like them to response. Teachers will start to train their indenpency.

Do you know if they have ENG classes EVERYDAY for K1-K3.

Anyone can share the daily schedule of KCS? Just wish to know whether this school is very academic or more relaxing in their kindergarten section.

Anyone can comment on KCS primary section too. Are there many homework or too pressure in this school?

Dear Pingu-K, for nearly all KCS parents that I know, we will comment KCS as a happy KG, not "drill" academically. But I did hear 2-3 mums in another classes not satisfied with their class teachers last year. I think it all depends on how lucky you are, i.e. if you are lucky to encounter nice teachers. Good and not very good teachers exist in every school.
Second thing is what is your expectation on school. Some parents are very demanding, some are pretty relax. KCS is such a big school, you will hear both postive and negative comment from different parents with different expectation. My point is as your kid is already studying in KCS, so you are already the user, so, you should observe if your kid likes and fits this school or not, and whether this school fits your expectation or not. If no, just change even though other parents highly recommend this school to you and tell you that their kids are happy here.

Doremi2008, I can only comment on my kid's class.  The teachers in PN and KG will call me to inform me immediately if my girl is hurt.  Will call me to discuss ways to help my kid if my kid has consistent pattern of misbehaviour in class.  This is why I am "scared" of receiving calls in Mandarine, as this means either my kid is hurt or I am going to receive "naughty report re my kid" from teachers.
If I have questions, I will also call the teachers at any time to ask/discuss as the class teachers phone number is written at the back of the handbook.  My most impressive event is I have left a message in the voice mail of a teacher, however, she is too busy during day time to return my call.  She returned my call at 10:00pm....which is not her office hour.
If you can accompany your kid to school, you can also chit chat with the teachers every day to understand how your kid is behaving in school.
Lastly, KCS has Eng and PTH every day (no Cantonese).  It is a relaxing KG. Hope the above help!

My girl is now in K1 local stream.
She has 40-45 mins english class taught by NET teacher everyday. She enjoys the english class so much. She can tell me correctly which day of the week today is. For example, last Friday, she can tell me today is Friday in english. From Sep to now, she sang me lots of new english songs to me which I never heard before. For example,
(1) One banana two banana three banana four
(2) Five green and speckled frogs
(3) I am a music man
(4) Five little ducks
And many others........
I was really surprise by her progress in learning english.

I was so worried during my daughter first month in KCS because of the mandarin instruction medium. In the first month, she seemed not so happy because she cannot understand the mandarin instructions given by the teachers. However, just around 1-2 month, she started to understand and speak some simple mandarin at home. And she now enjoys going to school very much.

I start to like this school a lot now

I understand that it all depend on the luck whether your kids will have a nice or strict teacher. Same for all other kindergarten too. Just let them face the reality themselves. They will have to learn how to deal with it eventually.

Do you know anything about their primary too? Sorry tooooo much questions

Unlike KG, KCS primary is a traditional school, demanding on academic. I learn they are teaching one level "deeper" for English, i.e. P2 will use P3 English book.
They have 4-6 pieces of homework per day, have frequent dictations, test/exams. My niece is now studying in KCS primary with flying academic result. I have asked her for more than 3 times if she had pressure from study, she said NO. I was surprised to learn this. Another 2 girls I know studying in KCS primary do not feel pressure from study too. I don't know if they are respresentative of the students studying in KCS primary, anyway, just for your information.

Haha "respresentative" very funny and I like it.

So I guess KCS primary hasn't changed. Actually my hubby graduated from KCS primary ages ago. He remembered he always have to stay back in school for some reasons. He said primary was pressure but he had very easy life in secondary and university. His foundation was very solid. I hate going to uni with him because he didn't study until the last minute but always better than me.

Unlike your husband, my huband, who is also a "product" of KCS primary, never studied before the exam : ) So, not sure who is the "representative" of KCS primary's product, hahaha......

May I know how many K1 class? I find there is full day class for K2 and K3. How can I apply? Do I need to apply for K1 first, then indicate the preference and apply for full day K2?

Should be 11 K1 classes. I think you can ask the general office people when you can apply K2 full day class after your kid has been given an K1 offer.

My child is also in K3, he loves the school and asks us if he could go on to P1 at KCS. He studies at KCS from nursery till now; he likes the teachers and is proud of his Mandarine. So far, not much pressure on study and he is having fun. I heard from another parent whose daughter is studing at KCS primary section, he told me that her daughter does not feel pressure of study although she got quite frequent dictation / test / exam etc. However, we are puzzled about this: - How could a student study happily and does not feel the pressure even there are lots of exam, dictation and tests?

haha..my husband was also graduated from KCS primary school 2x years ago. He can speak fluent putonghua, never studied before exam and his Chinese and English standards are ...;-( He said that 樹大有枯枝!). He explained that he did not have a solid foundation at kindergarten level (he didn't studied at KCS kindergarten).

Can anyone share with me the Chinese and English (written) levels of KCS Kindergarten? And do the teachers focus on training students to have positive learning attitude?
