I have not tried any of those you mentioned but I would not worry too much anyway. If you can afford it, you can send her to a play group in those IS kinder so that she can get used to the English environment.
If you really want to do something to help, I would suggest you buy some English song CDs and sing with her. By doing the action while singing, children learn very quick. I do not suggest DVD/TV. I believe those can give too much stimulation to kid at early stage. You can buy those simple ABC books (or borrow them from the library). No need to be too pushy. If your baby is in the mood, you can read with her for a while and try to stop before the kid gets bored. No need to be too long everyday - kid at 1 year old cannot focus for too long anyway. I would not suggest you teach your kid too many things at a time - a few things at a time but need to repeat everyday. You will be amazed how much the kid can pick up.
From my experience, kid at the age of 2 has very good memory. At that time, you can teach your kid (to recognise) some simple words, like apple, orange, etc. You can start reading simple story books with her - those one line a page with big picture are good for this age. You can then move up to the more difficult one.
Hope this help |
