根據上一世紀個人經驗, 大學一定有數學系, 但 A-LEVEL 數絶對不同大學的數, 有些人天份很高, 普通人是食塵都追不上的.  

出路就真係幾窄, 所以通常都會副修些有實際用途的科目如經濟, 統計.  一心一意教書會讀物理等.

用到數的揾到食的科目如統計, 精算, 起冇起物, 天文, 地理或其他理科科目都某一程度有數.  另一方面, 但其實financial, economics 去到越高數就越多, 仲深到冇朋友, 有些經濟學家的數學拍得住 major 數學的人.  但讀商科就比較易揾食.

當然時移世易, 現今的科目分得咁多咁仔細, 這一支歌還有沒有得唱就不知了.

係香港讀唔到啦......得半科及格.....有人咁上下成績,係澳洲努力,讀到,所以試下,讀到就精算,唔得就maths sci. & fin, 總之有個學位,所以博一博,今日睇過啱啱讀完返黎既人,我女話又唔係恐怖到試都唔敢試,所以試下先

精算據我了解, 用數是用統計多些, 少些PURE MATHS, 再加上經濟 FINANCE 咁.  入到當然好啦.

如要選科學數學, 就不要選那麼理論性如物理 theory,
或純到冇朋友的數學, 否則就真的難揾食, 成世靠你, 逼住要選都要搭些應用科學商科如archi, engineer, statistics, finance, economics, account (個人覺得最有用又不太難讀, 只要加減成除多少少, 不喜歡可能會覺得悶).

精算是一門運用概率數學理論和多種金融工具對經濟活動進行分析預測的學問。精算學是在商業基本知識的平台上培訓計算師，以財務、經濟、保險等行業在研究商業意外影響及對策。

隨全球保險業、社會福利業及諮詢業的迅速發展，精算師在世界各國已經成為一種誘人的職業。該行業從業員不僅社會地位高，收入也相當可觀，在美國，一個剛入行的精算師年薪就在8萬美元以上。

在中國內地，大學很少設有精算專業，真正意義上的精算師很少，目前更緊缺保險精算師，有海外留學經驗和工作經歷的更是屈指可數。可以預見，精算專業將成為內地炙手可熱的專業之一。

精算師的就業範疇非常廣泛，可於政府部門或商業機構（如健康保險公司、退休基金公司、銀行、金融財務機構等），從事金融財務顧問、股票經紀、基金經紀等，以評估風險及作出金融財務上的決策。就算冇牌, 都可以從事以上行業，只不過人工可能冇咁高。

據香港精算學會資料, 現時所有精算師都要應考海外的專業資格試，普遍獲業界承認的專業試有英國、澳洲及美國三個選擇。

按2010 年7 月份的資料顯示 (http://www.actuaries.org.hk/membership.php?id=7)，目前香港大約只有429 名正式會士（Fellow Members ）精算師、157 名準會士（Associate Members ）精算師和160 名學生會士（Student Members ）精算師。能考獲精算師牌照及已取得正式會士（Fellow Members ）資格才可稱為精算師。

想 8 下，入左澳洲邊間 U 讀精算呢 ？據我所知，好似得 1 － 2 間 U 有開呢科，同埋要有心理預備一 D 都唔容易讀，內容仲包括埋 statistics 等等。。。。小朋友去係先讀 foundation ? 最好問定要咩成績先入到精算系 .....

而家澳洲有五間u有精算讀呀.....係由foundation開始,讀唔成精算就讀maths sci & fin.......但報就報左精算條路先囉...

Hi Sindy,

Always want to find a chance to express my appreciation for your helps and support when my daughter applied to kindergarten 2 years ago.

Just to share some information since I also studied math major in college (well....  that was long ago though).

Just to clarify if your daughter is interested in pure math, then actuarial science is not her cup of tea since it is more statistics in nature.  I am not sure how the subjects are defined in HKAL nowadays but that should be more in the applied math area for the old HKAL syllabus.

If her interest is on pure math, then she should really be aiming for mathematics department.  Since I studied (extensively) both math and statistics in university, there is a clear difference between these two subjects and where they can be applied.  For example, math is a critical subject for preparation of post-graduate study of economics.  For a PhD program for Economics, the entire first year will only be math.  On the other hand, statistics will be more related to subjects like actuarial science or finance majors.

Honestly, statistics will be more useful in workplace so it can applied to wider professions.  For math, its application to business world is limited and the problem in Hong Kong is people don't appreciate the technicality of these specialists.

So, I guess your daughter would have to start considering her future career to have early planning.  Has she been accepted by the Australian university already?  Is Australia the only country she is considering now?

Mq 教授精算學已有超過40 年歷史, 該校精算學學院獲得澳洲精算學會 (IAA) 評價為 Centre of Excellence in actuarial education, 可稱得上是澳洲精算學教育方面的權威.

Curtin 相對於 Mq 而言, 其入學要求較低.

根據 Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAA) 的資料顯示, 現有6間澳洲大學提供該會認可課程。如要 exempt 該會專業試 Part I 部份或所有 subjects:

Curtin University of Technology students must obtain at least a mark of 73% in the Curtin unit, for subjects CT1 & CT6 and an average of at least 73%, with a minimum of at least 65% in each of Curtin units for all other subjects.

Macquarie University students must obtain at least a credit grade.
