I have a friend's daughter whom fails to enter into St. Mary with 20points. So, I think there's no chance to get in in the first round with 15 pts only.

I don't understand why the parents with 20 Marks all opt for St Mary instead of Holy Angels Canossian ( 天神嘉諾撒 ) !

I know even 15 points can be accepted by Holy Angels Canossian whose P6 students will all be accepted by St Mary F1 under the new one dragon system !

So 殊途同歸 !

The difference is 6 years of education. St Mary's is St Mary's. Holy Angels is Holy Angels. I am never a big fan of Holy Angels. This school isn't a good school, even if all her students can enter St Mary's. I have seen girls from St Mary's, and also girls from Holy Angels. They are not even in the same league. Most Holy Angels graduates have difficulties in keeping up with the pace in St Mary's in F1.

Holy Angel is also a good school with high standard.
The location and school campus is not as good as St. Mary and that's all.
Come on, every parent just know MCS and DGS for girls and La Salle and DBS for boys. We have face the reality sometimes. Holy Angels, Holy Family are already next to the best choice.

Agreed.

Wuthout singling out any school in particular, choosing a school sometimes depends not just on what secondary school it leads to - just like choosing a secondary school does not just depend o what universities it lead to.

Children form their formative years in their schools. Their schools to a certain extent "mould" their character and confidence. These are things that no money can buy, and no amount of academic drilling can substitute.

yes, "sometimes" but most of the time it is !

Let's face the reality, if St Mary Primary cannot lead to St Mary Secondary but only Holy Angels can, what wil the parents do ?

I trust that most of the parents will shift to Holy Angels !

Yes but if two schools (A and B) can both lead to the same secondary school, it can STILL make a difference whether you go to A or B.

It is your business that you are not big fan of Holy Angels and you may also say St Mary is better than Holy Angels

BUT

How come you can say Holy Angels is not a good school just because it's not as good as St Mary !

we say St Mary is not a good school because it is not as good as DGJS ????????

It's alright if you think Holy Angels is the same as St Mary's. Primary education is much more than what secondary school the students will enter. I am just sharing my experience in dealing with St Mary's students and Holy Angels students.

I don't think there is much room for discussion if you insist on your viewpoints. Parents come here to share info and to discuss, not to win a debate. If you want a victory, take it. I'll share my info with somebody else.

My daughter is so lucky!
She is accepted by St. Mary's with 20 marks.
Thanks God as He really listen to my prayer.

Hope the girls failed in the first round can be accepted in the second round.

Look, your point is that "since both schools lead to the same secondary school, it does not matter which primary you do to." Of course the starting point is that they lead to the same secondary school. But my point is that this is not the ONLY thing to consider. Different schools have different styles and students have different outlook. Schools mould a student's character.

If getting into a good secondary school is the only thing that counts and "I don't know why people still carer about which primary school to go to", one might as well send one's kid to a tutorial school whose only aim is to drill students to do well in exams and nothing else.

This is not about any particular school; this is about the underlying philosophy in choosing a school.
