ESF TY 收了我女讀K1，但我女不太懂英語，只懂很間單對答，我有些擔心她開學後會好辛苦。

我英文都吾好，香港英語.... 所以我都只跟她講CANTONESE，吾想教壞佢，我都知無直通車，但都希望好彩 LOR，但就驚佢抗拒番學...

u better think which primary is your aim, if not ESF primary, no need to study in ESF kindy, if your target is ESF primary, u better use english to communicate with her.( at least before interview)

if u do nothing extra in the coming 20 months, your daughter will be 好辛苦, u will be 好痛苦.

I had the same situation when my boy studied in IS kinder. I also don't want to 教壞佢. So I teach him some single words only. But, I found out that is no good to him. You have to speak English to him and let him try to have english conversation with you. It will help him pick up faster in school.

Maybe you can enroll your gal into some English program in this summer so as to let her familiar with the English speaking environment. Also, you can buy some English educational DVDs for her to watch in day time.

She should be okay. Kids pick up language very quickly. However, it will be good to let her go to English play group in the summer so that she can get used to the English enviroment.

多謝各位意見，我都幫我女報了SUMMER CAMP， 3 HRS／day, 5 days/week, 希望番學前盡量習慣吓，和我都會開始同佢講多D 英文，因我都想佢讀 IS 的P1 的

If IS P1 is your target, try your best to keep a English speaking environment to your daughter!
Never mind your spoken English is not good. She can learn correct phonics at school.
She can improve your spoken English while communicating with your daughter in English.

It will depend on your English level.
For little kids, English grammar and pronunciation do not have to be perfect.
Even for native kids, theirs may not be perfect at this age.
Usually, it will be more of the use of words.
If one wants to say “Can you turn on the TV?”
but he says “Can you open the TV?”
It will be a totally different thing.
For some Hong Kong people, they cannot tell the difference – I am not joking!
For local people, it is probably not difficult to figure out this person meant to say “turn on” not “open” after a while.
But for Gweilo, it will be very difficult to figure out what this person is trying to say.

Some people complain that they speak only English to their kids but the kids still cannot pass the interview.
I think it is because the teacher cannot really understand what the kid is trying to say.

Before my girl goes to kinder, I only speak Cantonese with her at home.
She picks up the English from school.
But I spent a lot of time reading with her.
I found the Oxford Ready Tree books very useful.
You can start from the basic one – stage 1. Repeat the same book for a number of times.
From reading, the kid will gradually memorize the sentences.
They can also gradually pick up the proper way to say English.

2) You may borrow from the library as Tamm mentioned. Either ask the librarian to help or you can search for its Call# directly online. The Oxford Reading Tree is a series of books. So when you search, you need to choose 'advanced searching' and search it under 'Series Keyword' (not 'Title Keyword') in order to be able to find it.
