Semi-finals (primary and secondary too) were held yesterday. Final coming up in 3 weeks' time. Any one went?

Renaissance primary won the semifinal against CAIS, KJS and Discovery College. They will be going to the final at CIS in two weeks.

Well done.
Great to see that they have a much stronger team this year. I know RC did very poorly last year. Most of the strong students were not even in the team. This is one thing that RC need to learn from other schools. They need to be more serious in making up school teams (including sports teams, etc), and try to invite or persuade those strong students to join.

How many schools are participating all together? How exactly do they compete?

Not sure how many schools in total. But in addition to the schools in the semifinal with RC, I know that many other IS participate in BOB, like ICS, Shatin Junior, Yew Chung, CIS, etc.

In October, the Battle of the Books committee announces reading list: 20 books for primary and 20 for secondary. Then in May, the schools are grouped into semifinals.

At the semifinal, there are 12 rounds of "battle". Each team is given statements about a book character or an event, and the team members take turns to answer the relevant name of the book and its author. If they were wrong or did not know the answer, the opposing team could try to answer and get bonus points.

It's a great way to promote reading as well as team spirit!
