Just been to St-Paul Co-ed (Macdonnell Rd.) interview

As the Headmistress said in the briefing, the first part is just doing some coloring and play in the game room with other kids.  It last for about 15 minutes.
Afterthat, the kid will talk to the Headmistress for about 5 minutes.  Very simple questions e.g. speak something about what you've colored, do you have any sister/brother, what level are you studying at school.

Any other sharing from BK parents?

多謝你的分享!請問有幾多小朋友一組?氣氛是否很輕鬆?是否只淮小朋友在課室內,家長要在出面等?校長/老師有冇問家長問題?有否需要預備profile? 請指教!

I think it's about 3 to 4 at a time because when one kid go to headmistress's room, another kid will go into the game room.  Since their staff lead the kids to the room which is out of parent's sight, I don't know the atmosphere.

Parent just wait outside.  They can only see the kids when they are being led on their way from the game room to HM's room (the waiting lobby is just in the middle of the way between the 2 rooms).

Headmistress will only talk to you when you have the luck to have the 2nd interview.

I think the profile or portfolio should be submitted with the form.  They will not have time to read in such a "short" interview.  Anyway, you can bring one and ask the staff.

No. of applicants should be around 2,000.  No exact number.  It is good that you will actually have no pressure at all since the competition is so keen that it's just like a lucky draw.  I just do what I can and leave the result to God.

I'm a christian but not of St-Paul Co-ed.  There should be no relation between this and the interview sequence.  BTW, being interviewed first may not be an advantage.
A friend of mine had interview arranged at the last sessions at around 6:30p.m. (so lucky, no need to apply for leave). I guess since there will be no more or not much afterwards, the headmistress talked to the kids for 10+ minutes.  They got 2nd interview and finally admitted.
As I know they have interview from yesterday already.  Don't know if it is the first day.  
Anyway, don't be too nervous, your kids can feel that and become anxious also.

我最後一日先交表,但我們昨晚回港已見有封9月23日寄出,要小朋友9月27日面試的信!結果我們沒去面試!!!希望有得補in. :cry:

They talk for 10+ minutes might not due to he was almost the last one for interview, but because of the kid's interview response was samrt, so the headmistress would like to explore more of him.  Otherwise, she will normally kick you out in a few minutes.

可能St. Paul's Co-ed是先和舊生子女面試,然後是相同宗教信仰,最後才到其他申請人.

I don't think such simple question can make much difference between kids.  It can only screen out those below average ones.  The whole exercise is a game of subjective judgement and luck.

我於九月十七日-最後那天才交表格,但至今天仍未收到面試通知.  我的朋友在第一天交表,亦未收到面試通知, 不知校方是逼己將申請的學生分門別類, 有眼緣的面試先.  亦有些擔心收不到通知或因郵誤遲到而面試不到.希望我快些收到通知了!參加了這個眼緣遊戲,再和你分享.

我囡囡已經補in,現分享面試情況如下:-

1. 核對文件
2. 老師帶小朋友去一課室,囡囡話老師問佢是否想填色,而佢話想,於是就全程在填色.而課室裹佢只見有兩副玩具.
3. 小朋友大約在課室玩了一小時,接著有老師帶小朋友到校長接見室外等見校長.每個小朋友大約接見5-10分鐘.每個小朋友見校長時都會攞住剛才完成既畫.囡囡話校長問佢姓名,就讀學校,有冇兄弟姊妹,屋企有甚麼多等等?

家長除核對文件同去廁所外,全程都係係lobby呆等!建議帶定的讀物消磨慢長既等待.

依我估計,課室內既填色同玩玩具,只係俾小朋友等待見校長而預備,似乎同面試冇特別大關係,當然小朋友如果在課室大吵大鬧,打人,情緒波動等都會俾老師寫remarks!而見校長短短幾分鐘時間,要小朋友表現到自己最好既一面,令校長留下深刻美好既印象,似乎連大人也難以做到!.大家姑且以平常心看之.

祝各小朋友入讀到一間真正適合自己既學校,有個開開心心既童年!

Hi 2mings,

小朋友要玩一小時，之後才和校長見面5-10分鐘．不知同時是否有很多家長在lobby等候？

我看報紙得知今年有692人報St-Paul(Macdonnell Rd),競爭56個學位．這樣進行面試，除了要全家總動員告假，跟大抽獎沒有分別．
