首先多謝妳對英華小學這麼賞識,我成為英華家長都感到光榮!不過妳的小朋友還未開始讀書,我認為妳不必太緊張,就要考證書!我認為幼稚園是小朋友和家長們的蜜月期,好好享受他每天都給妳驚喜,歡笑的日子吧!我認為家長應該培養他們基本的認知,與人相處和禮貌等能力,多些陪他們玩,看書,培育他們成為活潑,開朗有禮貌的孩子,那怕到時沒有好的學校收?
我想英華的學生大多是這樣成長的!

好同意mayc所講,雖然我囝囝九月先入學,但係由我接觸到既其他準小一學生,同埋佢地既家長,全部都同mayc所講既特質好接近.
我地當中有人直到而家都未學過piano,有人未學過珠心算/公文數之類,亦有人未學過游水,不過都入左.
至於你講既所謂學術方面,我暫時都未聽有準同學仔特登報課程去學過.

Principal Lam has mentioned in briefing sessions for P1 application that children are the mirror of their parents.  Their behaviour will reflect what their parents have taught. Certificates are not the most important things.

But Mrs. Lam has stressed that the habit of reading is very important.

Your child is just in nusury, 2 more years for him to apply P1.  Relaxed.  

As mayc said, a cheerful, polite and confident child shall be welcomed by all famous schools.

我囝現在小六了,未入小學時參加了小童軍(訓練社交),英文Playgroud(使他不怕外國人和多些講英文),教會兒童聚會(聽聖經故事),tomlee 音樂班(自己唔識教)....全部都無cert的!

雖然他的成績不是好好,但我最高興的是,現在我囝仍鍾意和願意睇書,他由小童軍升到幼童軍,現在升至童軍,他仍然鍾意返童軍,他願意學小提琴,他喜歡返教會和他不怕陌生人,會主動用英語與外藉人士交談!

Normal ex-cir courses to broaden his horizons...
eg. phonics class, reading cert for reading over 30 books a school year  (issued by his school), sunday school of church and no more...

If you apply classes for your boy for the purpose to enhance his exposures, it would be great...
But if you apply classes just only for application for P1, you wouldl be disappointed if he was not offered a place by your dream school, it would not be good for you and your boy....

Please be assured that our Lord will arrange the most suitable for your son....

I was worried for my son too when he applied for P1 as he did not attend courses as many as other applicants.   He still got offered from a number of schools....

God gives us the best.

P.S. I really appreciate your concerns over your son's education but in Hong Kong everythings change quickly, I think how to train our children be responsible and honest persons is more important asking what classes should be attended for P1 application.

Spend more time with children.

Answer all questions raised by the children but in accurate and correct information.  No matter how hard to understand, try to explain with children.

Parents are best teacher in family.
