Rules
Domestic helper shall obey the rules all the times.
A. General 1.
You shall give polite, quick and good service to Sir, Madam, Grandma and Baby.
2.
Be honest. DON’T tell lie.
3.
Be hardworking. You must follow instructions & work schedule.
4.
Cleanliness and tidiness is important for doing domestic work.
5.
Prepare fresh water and food with good hygiene.
6.
Keep yourself clean and tidy. Wash your clothes with your hands separately from employers’ clothes.
7.
Look after baby and keep her under safety situation.
Don’t let her get hurt. It is your responsibility to keep her safe, don’t just say that she is naughty.
8.
Separate baby clothes from adults’ clothes for washing.
9.
Stealing is CRIMINAL offence and is strictly prohibited.
Borrowing or Taking any things without employer’s permission is regarded as stealing.
10.
Except with permission of the employer, you are NOT allowed to CALL your friends or relatives or SMS during working day (FROM 7:30 am to 11:00 pm) EVEN employer is not at home.
11.
Dial long distant call at home is NOT allowed except with employer’s permission.
12.
No wastage of any resources (e.g. Water, Electricity and daily domestic goods) of the house.
Don’t use warm water to clean dishes or clothes.
13.
While the master is out, you are NOT allowed to let your relatives or friends or strangers to come to this house.
14.
Always pay special attention to the baby even if you are doing household work. If the baby is crying even midnight, you should get up immediately and look after the baby.
15.
If she is sick or get hurt, don’t just wait for employers’ back home.
You must call the employer immediately.
If you cannot find the employer, call grandma or employer’s sister immediately.
Don’t give baby any medicine without employer’s permission.
16.
Report to employer if things are damaged. Don’t hide. NO excuse.
B. Home surveillance – camera
The employer has set cameras at the house (except toilet and room for domestic helper’s rest) to watch the baby.
C. Performance & employment records
The employer is authorized to release domestic helper’s (1) performance records and (2) employment records to Employment agencies, the Hong Kong Government Offices including Immigration, Labour Department, Police, etc. as well as Consulate General of other countries, potential employers for (a) verification of her performance during the entire employment or (b) for performance reference as well as (c) for legal compliance.
D. Home security
1.
You should keep the main door & gate closed all the time to prevent strangers from coming inside the house.
2.
You should not open the door to any person you have never met, even if they tell you that they are employer’s friends or relatives. No matter whom they claim they are. No matter they are policemen, government officers, employers of gas, water, electricity companies, or the building watchmen, or anyone. Call your employer for direction.
3.
You should stay at home all the time when the employer is out. You are not allowed to leave the house without your employer’s permission (except emergency).
4.
When visitor of employer arrives, ask them to wait for a moment in a polite manner, inform employer of their arrival. Obtain the employer’s permission before letting them in.
5.
You should not discuss with other maids, security guards and strangers about your employer and employer’s family.
You are NOT allowed to Take away or Copy Documents, Photos, letters of employer and her family. Disclosure of any such personal data without permission of the employer is against the law.
6.
You must lock the doors, gates and windows if you are the last one to leave the house.
E. Fire or Hot things
1. You should keep close attention to gas hood while you are cooking. Never bring the child to the kitchen even if you are there with her.
2.
When there is fire in the house, you should leave the house immediately with the child. Do not leave the child alone in the house. Call employer immediately and inform the building guard immediately.
3.
When there is fire, don’t use the lift. Walk down stairs and call employer and inform building guard immediately.
4.
ALL hot things – like hot soups, iron, hot drink MUST be kept away from places child can reach.
Iron should be kept at safe place after use since it is very hot even after use. You should never let baby gets near hot things nor bring hot things near baby since she may want to get it and get hurt.
5.
You should not leave the gas hood unattended when it is on. (e.g. cooking soup)
6.
When you smell the leakage of gas, switch off the main gas switch and open all windows. DO NOT use the home telephone or any mobile to call your employer, leave the house with the child immediately.
DO NOT try to press any button including the light or ventilation fan since both of them will cause explosion. Call the employer using a telephone downstairs. Follow the instructions provided by the employer.
F. Electricity
1. You must NOT leave fire and heater, fan and electrical appliances (except refrigerator) on whenever you leave the house. Always remember to switch off all the lights if you are the last one to leave the house.
2. Dry your hand before using any electrical appliance. Otherwise, you may get electrical shock and may be killed by electrical high voltages.
3. You must never let baby touch electrical appliance.
5.
If you find damages in electrical wires, do not use the appliance and unplug it immediately. Do not try to fix it or open it by yourself. Inform your employer.
6.
If any electrical appliance produces abnormal light or sound, unplug the electricity socket of the appliance. Do not use the appliance again. Inform your employer.
7.
If all the electrical appliance run out of electricity (e.g. all the lighting turn off suddenly. Do not panic, stay with the child and call the employer. Do not try to repair by yourself, follow the instructions provided by your employer
G. Water & others
1. Do not keep water in bucket unattended, the child may easily get drown
2. Test the water temperature before taking a bath for the child or putting the child into bathtub. (Not too hot or too cold)
3. If there is leakage of water, check and inform your employer immediately.
4. You must keep all kinds of medicine, detergent and sharp things like pen, cutting tools/knives in the place designated by your employer. When these items are used, please ensure that it is in a safe place, and out of reach by the children.

You do not follow of the above rules

You behave in a bad manner, misconduct yourself

You steal employer’s things or you are dishonest or guilty of fraud,
l
You are neglectful in your duties
The employer will terminate the employment WITHOUT any compensation according to the HK employment ordinance.
