English writing / composition / journal

Hello,

In general, children of which primary level start writing English composition / journal (daily or weekly) at school? What's the word count?

Any parents know?

My child is writing journal in P.1 now.  There are no words count and around 6 rows are provided for writing.

Hi Monita,

Thanks for the response!  Your child starts writing English journal so early.  Is he studying in English primary school or International school?

My son is studying P.4 in a Chinese school.  He has started writing English weekly journal this year.  He's not very used to it.  I ask him to write at least 50 words.

Any more responses from other parents?

Hello! agoodfox,

Yes, my child is studying in an English Primary School.  She has no problem in writing as I trained her to write diary (not daily, sometimes weekly) when she was in K3.  

Don't worry, he will improve in writing after some time as this is a new task to him indeed.

I remember you, of course.   

I did reply you on the other topic earlier: "Sept04 entry in Primary School".  My daughter is in class 1C.  Please also refer to the topic of "TSL".

Dear Mandy2002 & Monita,

Thanks a lot for the feedback.  My son's writing skill is always the weakest of the 4 language skills.  He knows it very well and is not very confident in it.  But after a few weekly journal writings, he feels it's easier than he has expected.  Anyway, it's great to see him making progress.  I believe "practice makes perfect"!!!  :
