Dear TSL parents

Would like to know if there is any orientation week for the kids to adapt to P.1 school life before school begins ?  I'm now planning for ECA during summer holiday.

And, how many lessons of Putonghua are there in a week in P.1 ?

1)        Normally, the school will invite new P1 parents to come to the school to register around mid-July and new parents will get a lot of useful information on that day about what they need to prepare before the new school term starts (i.e. uniforms, new books, school bag, school bus services, choosing basic French/Japanese, and so on).  There will also be an orientation day for all new P1 pupils to get familiar with the classrooms, classmates, normal procedure and so on.  Other than that, you are quite free to plan for any ECAs for your child during the summer holiday.

2)        As for the Putonghua lessons for P1, I cannot recall it exactly now.  My guess is about 2 lessons per week.  But I might be wrong.  I better leave it to other current P1 parents to confirm this for you.

You have excellent memory. I nearly forgot that we have a date in mid-July to get the info of uniforms, books etc..

What Principal mentioned are all correct as for '08/'09 P.1 student. If I remember correctly, P.1 kid and the parent will have the 1st school day on ~8/31 so as to let the kid and the parents to familarize the school and collect all the notices (forget the notices was collected on 8/31 or 9/1). Anyhow, I spent several hours to read all those notices.
There are 2 PTH lessons in a week. They learnt all the pinyin in the 1st term.
