Re: ESF

Dear Hee
So do you want your son learning Chinese (I thought you are Chinese) as well as English, I suggest you also apply Phoneix Int'l school, this int'l school is run by ESF Educational Services Ltd, this school provided very good Chinese syllabus, you can think about it.
On the other hand, you are on the waiting list of Bauhinia School, I think the change is still high, don't worry, cos' some of the students may not actually go to this school, so when they have vacany, they will call by the order of waiting list, you are the second one they will call. So just wait..... I also suggest if you did not receive their call, you can phone them by August, as I know that most of the office staff and teacher will go back to school during middle of August.
If you still have any queries, please feel free to ask.

Re: ESF

Dear Friends
I know that Phoenix is the private independent school runs by ESF Educaitonal Services Ltd.
The school runs a very good syllabus of Chinese and English. And the prinicpal is quite good, he was a deputy principal of one of the ESF Secondary School (West Island School),  I talked with him before and having a meeting about Phoenix. So actually, only my point of view, Phoenix is as good as other ESF Primary and Secondary school.
My son will also apply September 05 Primary one of this school.
Is there any parents of Phoenix in this forums?? Could we share the experience on Phoenix?? Thanks.

Re: ESF

Dear Mom
My son apply KJS Sept 05 and I will also apply other int'l schools as well.
If both schools accept my boy, I will take KJS because so near grandma's home and Phoenix is going to move to Ma On Shan...
If both fail, I still have other changes of other Int'l schools.

Re: ESF

Yuenmama,

I'm going to enrol my son to ESF (Beacon Hill School) and Phoenix for Sept 2005 (or even Apr 2005 as he was born in March), have a couple of questions for you :

i) you said you have other choices ? may I know who are they ?

ii) to apply for Phoenix, do you know the procedure and timing ? is it the same as other ESF schools ? I went to their website but it's so unclear.

Thanks,
Ruby

Re: ESF

Dear Ruby

I think you have to apply as soon as possible for BHS and Phoenix, normally, they will accept the application form one year before, I knew that there's quite a lot applying BHS, so you can download the form from ESF Website. (BHS Application Form is different from Phoenix, you need to download one by one)!
I will apply different int'l schools (eg. AIS, Yew Chung, Kingston etc....)
My boy now studying in ESF Tsing Yi Kinder. Coming September he will be K2.
If you still have queries, please let me know!
Best wishes

Re: ESF

Dear Yuenmama,

For BHS, they will not accept application by Sept 17 onwards (unlike the kindergarten's practice that application is accepted througout the year once your kid fulfills their age requirement). But I'm not sure about Pheonix. I had already sent them an inquiry. Awaiting their feedback, will let you know if I got any news.

Wow, you planned to apply so many schools for him ? So, how many have you actually applied for ?

Re: ESF

Dear Mandy
Sorry to reply you so late, cos' very busy in summer holiday, my son got a lot of activities.
Regarding Tsing Yi Kinder, I think the children will love the environment, the children will play all day in school, they will play, sing, telling story, reading books, counting, but they seldom writing, they don't have homework at all, so you need to buy some suitable writing for your child, I bought some writing execise for my boy, I also attempt some outside activities for my boy cos' actually, Tsing Yi Kinder seldom arrange outgoing activities, only 3 or 4 time a year, they don't arrange monthly birithday party. The teacher will mention who is a birthday boy or girl of the day, may give the birthday children a crown, that's all.....
All the students in school is playing.........
If you have any problems, please let me know if I can help! Thanks.

Re: ESF

Dear Yuenmama,

My daughter is almost 2 years old.  I am looking for a Kindergarten for her.  I am living in Tsing Yi.  Therefore, ESF may be a good choice for me in terms of location.  However, I am quite worried about the Chinese standard.  Another choice will be Kingston. I am impressed about their IB program and their bilingual approach.  But the location is the main concern.  Another concern will be the reputation as compared to ESF.
When you choose ESF Tsing Yi, have u considered other choices?  Have u considered local school too? Do you have concern about your son's Chinese standard?  Could u give some comments?

Thanks very much.

Re: ESF

Dear Amywmlee
I suggest you get the information from the Kinders' that you want to apply, compare everything including curriculum, teaching style, languages provided, school fee, transportation etc...........
Honesty, Tsing Yi Kinder just have a little bit Mandarin class..... my son came home one day and told me about  his face in mandarin, quite funny!
You need to apply ESF now for next academic year in September. They accept application form one year ahead and of course count on the birth of the month.
You can call to ESF, ask them info. They are quite helpful.
