(1)多功課
(2)成日做PROJECT
(3)學校會有好多課外知識教比學生
(4)很著重英文,會有很多英文補充做
(5)一年級開始有英文SCIENCE讀
(6)中文亦有著重小朋友識字

Maryknoll 就不太清楚.

我唔係成日見到個朋友,如果見到我幫您問下,遲d答您.
我朋友兩個女都唔係讀得好辛苦,但是佢地就好叻.

呢度好似唔係好多st.mary的媽媽,問親st.mary都好小回覆,我聽人講st.mary每年都有差不多10個人留班,係st.mary留班唔係一件奇怪的事.而st.mary每年的書都比其他學校多小小,除左基本作業外仲有一d補充.

i think your friend have the answer herself. She must have a preference.
On kowloon side, you can name the top girls' schools easily:
1.DGS
2.Maryknoll
3.St Mary
4.Heep Yun
5. Good Hope
On HK side,
1.St Paul's co-ed (takes girls and boys)
2.Marymount
3.St Stephen's Girls
4. St Paul's Convent
5. Sacred Heart Canossian
But I will only put DGS, Maryknoll and St Paul's co-ed as the top notch schools.
But in my opinion, St Mary is better than Heep YUn or Good Hope. The latter 2 schools are great in sports or music, but their academic result is still not up to what a prestigious school should achieve.

DGS girls - trains great managing directors, barristers, lawyers

Maryknoll girls - trains well eduacted and great wives, great mothers

If I had a daughter, I will send her to Maryknoll

I can say that A VAST MAJORITY of DGS and Maryknoll graduates are now professionals (because i know a lot of friends from these 2 schools) -- professionals meaning executives, solicitors, bankers, consultant,doctors, politicians ,accountants, analysts, engineer, achitects, lecturers, professors etc etc , Of course there are well-educated great wives and mothers. Plus some in the show biz field eg Gigi Leung and Karen Mok as well....

Choosing between these 2 schools really depends on a lot of other factor-- private and non-private ($$$$) Maybe you'll say that you definitely will chose DGS if money is not a problem, but in fact, a lot of cases that their girls were being accepted by both schools, and money is not a problem, their final chose may not be DGS.

what i am saying is the overall standard of these top notch schools are actually about the same, there maybe a few more '10As' in this school than the others (seen more in media), but we are talking about general quality. no. of 9A, 8A, 7A, 6A etcetc are about the same.

i know the topic is about MCS and SMCC. what i am saying is that which school you chose for the child is important, but family teaching is as important! There are still cases that girls dropped out after a year or 2 studying in DGS, or Maryknoll or even SMCC.

我問左我朋友,佢話st.mary無分精英班,而課外活動可自由選擇,逢星期三會放早,因為有課外活動,如果無選課外活動的就可早一些回家.

請問還有沒有媽媽知道st.mary更多資料,希望可以分享一下.

這兩間學校相同之處︰同是天主教修會開辦的傳統英文名校。

不同的地方︰st.mary的學生在學術上的成績較優，而Maryknoll 的女仔則在社交活動方面表現較出色。

Maryknoll 的成績較 St Mary 優 (St mary's 成績 is also quite good though but i am talking about 'OVERALL RESULT') A lot (in fact, really a lot) of Maryknoll girls are now professionals. I personally know a number of Maryknollers and some St Marian's, and that's my impression! The girls' are quite presentable and friendly.

It's true that students of both schools have what a youth should possess also-- self confidence- i think it's quite important.

I don't know why some people have the impression that Maryknoll 的女仔在社交活動方面表現較出色, maybe because St Marian's are a bit low profile in the joint school or extra curricular activities? I am not sure, but I know that Maryknoll involved in a lot of the joint schools activities with La Salle, DBS , DGS etc etc.

maryknoll :
1) 功課無咁多
2) 會否"沙塵"些?
3) 有冇留意入升中學%跟住預科有幾多班

4) 有冇家長知道佢地學生平均分9x.00分會第幾名次??

st.mary:
1) 功課預期一樣唔會少, 近2年入學學生轉活動教學,所以現在不用做project
2) 英文一向好過中文科
3) 升中學額好緊張暫時只知太約80幾%預科也很緊張

4) 每級也會出現留班情況

what suki said about maryknoll being how '沙塵'-- that i do not know, i won't claim that they are 沙塵 but probably 'self confident'. in people's eyes, they believe there are more 沙塵 students in those very top schools. if you say maryknoll are 沙塵 i can tell you that DGS girls are even more 沙塵 ! So does it mean that you won't let your girl study in DGS even if some girls are 沙塵 ? Same case here, i think it's quite a pity if you prevent your girl to study in a much better school just because of this reason-- remember, this reason may not be true at all!

For both Maryknoll & St Mary:
1. Agree with Suki: English is always the better subject than chinese, as reflected in HKCEE result
2. 每級也會出現留班情況-- do you really want your kid to move up each year even though they cannot meet the requirements? It's for the benefit of child.

Apart from academic result which Maryknoll perform better than St Mary, another thing is that Maryknoll is more active in participating extra-curricular activities (and gain awards) than St Mary. My impression is that St Mary is also a very good school but are a bit more conservative in joint school and outside activities-- that's why people get the impression that it's a low profile school.

I would say that on Kowloon side, the top 3 girl school is DGS ,Maryknoll and St Mary!

The following 2 postings are from local newspaper 'MingPao'-- as you can campare , academic standard is higher for Maryknoll. in terms of OVERALL performance in HKCEE and A-LEVEL eg 平均每人摘Ａ數目, 入讀本港大學率,循中六拔尖計劃入大學的人數 etc

If you bother to compare the top boys schools like LSC/DBS in mingpao website, these girls schools Maryknoll and St Mary's result are much better than these 2 boys schools (we are not comparing how many 10A or 9As in each school but the OVERALL result)
There's no info for DGS as it did not provide info in mingpao site.
