though CCDC offers a variety of dance classes, it does not provide a really professional training to students.

But its courses are cheap and teachers are not bad. If you want your child to experience ballet Jazz and to move around, CCDC is quite a good choice.

If your aim is to be good in dance, CCDC is not the one. It only provides basic training but not advance.

CCDC = City Contemporary Dance Company 城市當代舞蹈團

Actually, CCDC have good teachers. But because students always "in" and "out". It affect the quality of the teaching.

people usually choose CCDC at the beginning to see whether they want to have further studies. If they ensure that they get the interest, they usually go to other schools to build up their technique.

Sorry that I can't tell you which school is good for dance becuase no school can do the best in all aspects. But you have to find the schools that specialize in that type of dance!

就我所知，政府資助既香港專業舞蹈團體有三個：香港舞蹈團、香港芭蕾舞蹈團和CCDC。我只睇過CCDC既年度財政報告，政府既資助約千萬。

在這三個舞團之中，港芭既水準受制於先天環境，芭蕾舞學既人係多，但跳得叻既都未必肯留港，所以近年都係靠大陸引入人才。
香港舞蹈團以前係受市政局資助既，近年話事人常換，似乎未定方向。
而CCDC，因為創辦人曹誠淵響八十年代入大陸創辦現代舞團，培養咗D世界級既冠軍人才，近年這批人紛紛成為引入港既專才，多半在CCDC旗下。我以前做過吓文化版，知道好多做副刊既同事，都會選擇去CCDC上舞蹈課，就算響舞蹈界，從業員去CCDC進修亦是閒事，斤以唔係好清楚您話" not provide a really professional training "指既係乜。

至於兒童舞蹈課，芭蕾舞黎講，CCDC本身係其中一個獲認可既考試場地，省卻小朋友因考試轉去陌生場地出現既陌生感，已經係一個有利因素。

而有家長問既芭蕾爵士舞，個老師咁啱就係我囡既導師。我囡跟咗佢三年幾，由CCDC跟到佢響出面開檔（所以佢響CCDC只係教幼兒），絕對唔認同您話個導師唔專業既睇法。

我囡至05年第三季跟呢位老師開始，每年都有演出機會。囡囡老師排演CCDC舞蹈課匯演既節目，通常都係最多掌聲既。舊年老師獲邀到翡翠既有線兒童台教芭蕾爵士，我囡都有份做背後既佈景板。今年佢私人搞既演出，班小朋友同大人同台演出，學到唔少野。成日有免費節目睇既文化版前同事，都認為佢班業餘學生跳得夠專業（但係佢對成人都幾嚴，對小朋友算寬容小小，但都係幾有要求既人，響CCDC教幼兒可能已經係最寬鬆既勒）。

而佢亦係去年校際舞蹈節中學組既主任評判，難道連搞舞蹈節既行內人士都冇判斷力？

幾年前我幫阿囡報名學舞前，曾搜尋過本港三個專業舞團既兒童舞課程，記憶中，CCDC既價錢係最可人既，又因為位於九龍區較近自己，所以揀咗。據我所知，以培養將來專業舞蹈人才既獎學金計劃，CCDC亦係最全面和最平既－－中學生免費，小學生九個月收五百元（連價值約二百元的制度，及年度演出既演出服裝），中學以上既舞蹈青年都係象徵式收費。

據我囡獎學金培訓班既老師表示，佢地（共三位）當年都係上咗CCDC　for中學生既培訓班，後來到演藝，再通過交流同獎學金去外國深造的。咁都俾人話唔專業，真係冇野講……

ps：不過據我所知，拉丁舞既老師雖然自己跳得ok，但好似唔係好識得教人……我只係睇佢既學生演出，就冇俾阿囡跟佢學，雖然阿囡好想，而因為佢呢兩年都考到入去獎學金培訓班，其他班都可以折半交費，學費好平。

Thanks for your comment.

I also agree that CCDC is a professional school. It does have lots of talented teachers. I have mentioned that in my second post.

But because there are different levels of students in a single class and students also "in" and "out", it's difficult for students to have a consistent training. Teachers always need to re-teach the same things again.

My friends had danced in CCDC for more than 5 years. She and her friends in the dance world believe that CCDC provides a platform for people to get access to the dance world. However, it's better to dance in elsewhere if you want to improve your technique because there are always new comers in CCDC dance classes and it's quite difficult for teachers to process further each class. So, many people choose CCDC dance classes to keep their muscles strong and take classes outside to improve technique at the same time.

I have danced for 10 years. Though I didn't join the CCDC dance classes for that long, I joined the classes few years ago. I personally have the same feeling as my friends do.

CCDC is a professonal school. It's teachers are really professonal. But, it's not good for people who want to achieve an advance level in dance. Or, in another way, CCDC can helps students to achieve an advance level but in a slower rate than other dance schools.

I think it's does not provide a really professional training because when compare to others, it takes people more time to achieve the same level.

Anyway, thanks for your opinion. It's always nice to discuss dance issue with others!

My daughter has taken class in CCDC for more than 5 yrs. I do share your opinion and I would like to improve her dancing skill. Do u have any suggestion ?
BTW, I think its adult classes are better than kids class !

I'm sorry that I cannot give good comment to you as I'm not very familiar with Jazz. Besides, kid Jazz just becomes popular these years and there's no particular school that's famous for it.

Since I'm not quite sure your situation, changing another school may not always be better. You may consider taking more classes in CCDC to see whether there's any improvement.

Here are 2 dance schools that seems quite good.
You may try to visit these websites:

This is the blog of the dance school. In the blog, you can find many information of the school. Don't forget to click "star of the month" to watch the video of some Jazz students.
The school allows Jazz students to take ATOD exam. In HK, I think not many schools have international exam for Jazz students. So, if you want to attain a certificate, this school may be a good choice. Another school that provides ATOD exam is http://www.sdm.hk/temp_d2c.html . However, many parents here had complaint about its poor teaching.

But, taking exam may not be a good thing. Students may get bored as there's a high chance that each lesson is repeating the same dance. So, it depends on what you want to achieve.

2. Emma Tse Elite Dance Academy

This one is in central. So, it's a bit far away for you. The fee may be a bit expensive than others(but i'm not sure, please check with the school).

The school is famous for it harmony Teachers are nice. The school offer Jazz and Tap. But, it seems that it does not offer Jazz exam to students.

This school got a lot of outside performance. You may find videos of performance of Jazz students in the new websites later on.

There're other dance schools like "Ones to watch" and "Billy Chan". These are mainly for teenagers and adult. Since I don't know the age of your daughter, I do not recommend it. And, these schools is for fun and so, no exam is provided. Also, seems these schools are more focus on street Jazz rather than Jazz. (You may visit http://hk.knowledge.yahoo.com/question/?qid=7007010105682 to see the types of Jazz)

Besides, flexibility is also important to Jazz. You may encourage your daughter to do stretching at home. It could be a huge different if the flexibility increase.

佢暑假果班(6-10yrs)仲有幾個位剩，平日既班佢會揀人黎收，要先試堂，但暑假好似寬鬆d？而且極平

，之前創意畫＋音樂劇＋芭蕾爵士共三個鐘，都只係收$200。不過創意畫個老師已經唔肯再收生（過十個已嫌多），剩番音樂劇同芭蕾爵士兩個鐘，都唔知佢點計。

上列既網頁好似幾耐冇update，連小朋友都冇擺上去，更加冇暑期課程

有興趣既家長請pm我留吓電郵，等我轉發佢d email。

又及，呢位導師真係教得幾認真，但有d嚴，假如小朋友受唔到硬既話，未必會夾。不過佢幾細心咁觀察，對唔同既人會用唔同既方法：有時仲教埋媽咪阿邊邊個唔鬧得，鬧佢就會驚到唔知點做，阿邊邊個有重要考試時，一定唔可以由婆婆或姐姐帶去，因為佢去到會冇咁認真……

佢又好似唔係好鍾意搵錢咁。好似我囡俾佢選咗七月底去佢大人檔野度表演幾分鐘，就晨早話俾我聽，暑期班上完三個鐘後，有份表演既，小息後可能仲要跳多兩個鐘。根據以往既經驗，佢會響表演前狂加課排舞，但就算我地出到聲叫佢收番錢，佢都話唔駛，至多叫我地買多張飛就算（表演門票又唔貴，120@張，有家長買得果兩張，佢都冇理）。

響每次既表演中，我真係睇住阿囡逐步開竅，又學識團隊精神同執生（家長唔俾入後台服侍佢地），學到既，唔只係舞藝（阿囡有d同佢一齊跟佢幾耐既同學仔，未必會被佢選中做小組表演，但都照學如儀，因為家長鍾意個老師夠惡，治到班大帝）。而佢教班大人又真係幾掂，相信終有一日會亮出名堂來既

所以趁佢仲未成名，收咁平，最好去試吓夾唔夾。

我之前打過電話去問SDM，佢地話而家唔教ATOD，轉左第二樣。好似係「羅x雅」同埋「Lx Danxe」先有 ATOD 考試課程。
另外北角&銅鑼灣都有學校教授 ATOD JAZZ。
