以我所知, 應該係target好有自信同對自己有要求既小朋友, 當然學業水平都係重要因素, 至於家底........個人相信總有d關係, 不過小朋友本身質數緊要d

Hi Charlotte,

thanks!! still stuggle for putting my girl in international stream or local one! if for local, of course.....for such famous school as maryknoll convent, DGS are the dream school for many parents. However, is it really such perfect in such famous school? regarding the pressure, the workload....I wanna bring a wonderful memory for my girl during her childhood!!

Rororolee, I have the SAME problem and worry. The International schools want my daughter to drop out of K3 and go to Primary 1 in international school this September. However, I haven't even tried to apply to the local ones for admission Sept 2009 ! How can I do this? If I drop out of local kindy now, go to International school until 2009, my daughter's levels will drop for sure not good enough to get into DGS, Maryknoll, or St. Mary's type of schools. However, if she doesn't get into a good 'Local" school next year, Primary 2 of any int'l school is almost impossible to get a space. What to do ? Any other parents have idea?

I know some cases from friends, they will go to G.1 first in IS and by that time the lucky draw starts, they will apply for their dream schools as well.  In you case, if you have 20 marks on the first round, you can still have the chance to get a seat in either MCS or St. Mary.  

Dont worry about the level or whether your daughter can catch up with the mainstream schools, you will feel a bit harsh in the first term, but they can manage it if parents can help them.  Also, let them read more Chinese books and have some dictation on vocab or even attend some Chinese classes outside.

so學校應會揀英文叻既學生, 讀is應有著數

You are right that 女拔每年都收唔小CCKG & 寶山學生, but it is also true that they don't accept many IS students due to their Chinese standard.

Students mainly come from CCKG.  Other major kinde is St Catherine.  Braemar Hill accounts for some but not too many since most of them go to SPCC.   

Chinese is the medium in the interview unless your kid's mother tongue is English and you request so.   

Re parents, there are so many doctors and lawyers in HK so definitely not 醫生律師女實收!

For that point of view, if my girl study in IS for K1, is it more easy to get a seat to CCKG for K2 as the english level may probably higher than other local kinder?? just heard from other parents that the interview in CCKG is carried out in all English!!

Hi rororolee,

If your daughter comes from a K1 where English is strong, it will be an advantage in the CCKG interview.  The CCKG headmistress is and Australian lady, and she does all the interviews herself.  Your kid must be brave enough to communicate with a foreigner stranger in a room all by herself, then she will stand a pretty good chance.

Also agree that CCKG is the best choice if you want to get into DGS.  In my son's class, 12 out of 14 girls got in DGS, and about half of the boys got into DBS.  DBS will interview the parents but not DGS, so your daughter's performance in the DGS interview is most important. Perhaps the teaching style of DGS and CCKG are similar, so thay think the kids will fit in easier. As for the parents' jobs, it helps to be well educated, but the more successful you are, the less time you will spend with the kids. So that may not be a big advantage.
