Hi edea,

My son's school principal just recommended GTS to us, since we missed the briefing session is it possible to apply? From the form it seems the first questions can only be answered if the parents had attended the 入學簡介會, i.e.:
1)
你覺得你的孩子在多元智慧的七個方面（參看入學簡章），哪方面最具才華？請列舉例子，並簡述過往的表現。(如有證書、獎狀請附上副本)

From GTS website i can only find this

優才書院的宗旨包括：
‧ 愉快學習，發展潛質。
‧ 成績優異，鼓勵創意。
‧ 培養公民意識，建立積極自我形象。

Which list out 6 missions, do you mind to brief me the details on 多元智慧? I will call GTS on Monday and see if they will accept my application.

1)  冇聽簡介會, 係唔影响你既小朋友申請GTS既, 請放心。
08/09小一入學, 第二輪申請既deadline响 9/22, 仲有成個禮拜比你準備。
2) 多元智能係哈佛大學教授Howard Gardner响1983年提出既理論, 主要係提出智能有好多種, 反對過去只有IQ智能咁偏面既講法。詳情可參考以下,

3)  答第一條, 都唔駛聽過簡介會, 其實你只要將你既小朋友响邊方面, 特別有才華, 重点講出黎就得, 因為多元智能基本上包含小朋友所有既才華。

Thanks all GTS parents, you gals/guys are so fast and helpful!

I believe the recommendation from the principal was base on her observation and understanding of my son's ability. She always comment my son learn by his ears rather than his eyes, e.g. he is not attentativethe to teacher but he has no problem to answer questions and does well in exam. Also he likes to experiment, hence the traditional learning single direction learning (teacher talks and students listen) is not suitable for him. I also believe GTS small class is good for my son as he is bit weak in speech and articulation, hopefully in small class the teacher does not mind to help him a bit.

As a parent I have always want to look for a school with not as much homework, not so much repetitive copying, which to me is merely quantity than quality. My son enjoys going to library and have me reading with him, this is something I like to allocate time for instead of burden with homework.

One more question, what does it mean by 第二輪申請? Does that mean most applicants already accepted and only few places left for this round?

優才小一收生分第一階段及第二階段.
第一階段的收生結果已於2007年8月25日公佈了.
第二階段(第二輪申請)己開始
第一階段與第二階段的收生人數應是各48人.
可參看bk的"優才書院07年小一家長會"相信有助了解

如有錯漏請各位補充.

各位知道可以郵寄申請表格還是必須要親身交表?抱歉我已忘了.

Hi edea,

I called GTS again and was told I can mail in the applicaiton form. She said all I need is picture of my son and returned envelope, report card is optional. My son porfolio should be rather simple as I never asked for certificates for interest class that he attends.:cry:
