一間係私校(高主教) -- 傳統教學, 有直屬中學backup (好似有資優教育)

一間係津貼(st. jo) -- 要靠世襲or大抽獎, 都有直屬中學, 但係就競爭非常激烈(8班"西"一半, 得4班上中學)

一間係直資(st. paul boy's) -- 都係傳統教學, 但係好似活D, 每年都好多人申請, 約10人爭1個位

我冇三個仔讀晒三間小學,所以有d係過來人經驗,有d係親戚朋友度聽返嚟o既經驗咋.

高主教 - 升中壓力唔算大,小朋友幾活潑,老師都算主動關心小朋友,中文小一已開始用普通話教,出年會搬去灣仔.

St Paul Boys - 升中壓力唔大,相對小班,小四先開始用普通話教中文,但英文程度都頗深,數年後會搬去薄扶林,我懷疑discipline 可能係三間中最鬆,但無法求證.

St Joseph - 冇得考, 多少要靠彩數至入到, 暫時仲係上下午校?好似升直屬中學都唔易,競爭同壓力(家長同小朋友)可能係三間最大.

其實三間是但一間收都讀得過,你睇吓你小朋友情況同你可以比幾多support 佢先再考慮啦.

心得唔講得,都係大家share information 啫.

不過,我又覺得小一就用普通話教唔知係好定係唔好.....我親口問過一位中西區小學校長,(佢間小學o既中文科主任自製中文教材獲獎,並得到教統局表揚及取經,我參觀嗰陣見間小學d小朋友d中文真係唔錯,我唔係睇d display work - 係响課室攞小朋友放在課室d功課簿嚟睇 - 你話我幾唔守規矩!

)

佢話其實大家如果係同意母語教學呢個概念係好ge話,咁對香港大部份小朋友嚟講,廣東話先係母語,小一就開始用普通話其實唔係人人都啱,佢自己間學校都係p4(?定p5?)先開始轉用普通話教.我都有請教佢咁小朋友適應會否有困難,佢話唔會喎!

各有各諗啦........

其實, 小朋友讀書, 最緊要係睇佢性格, 比間全港第一你讀, 如果個囝讀唔上(touchwood果句, 不過, 我諗你小朋友都好smart

) 咁就不如揀間適合佢既好過啦

等我申報利益先. 我個仔係paul boys' 學生.

學校係小四開始中文科至用哂普通話. 校長話因為驚佢地小一又要適應小學生活, 又要適應英文"深"左, 再要用普通話讀中文就好辛苦. 而小三因為要考評估試, 唔想佢地百上加斤. 所以小四至開始.

不過 ,小一至小三而家開始就會o係普通話科"加強"內容. 小一已經開始教拼音, 課本都多左一本叫"拼音"既書, 等佢地打好d基礎至上小四轉全普通話.

請問你仔仔讀得開唔開心, 是否中文小學, 例如數學是全中文字題, 有冇背書?英文是否全英語教授?聽講功課好多, 你仔仔有冇學珠心算?普通話流利嗎? 學校是否需要學樂器? 琴或小提琴好呢? 請指教

My boy is also in St. Paul's.  In general, the school life is fun, but not without considerable fair amount of homework.  Yes, the arithmetic is in Chinese and one can classify the school as a Chinese school.  As parents, we are happy with the std of the school and consider it is just right for our boy.

However, we still need to plan the revision schedule for the two tests and exams carefully, and the kid must work hard according to the schedule.  Other than that my son still finds time to play football three times a week, including two sessions provided by the school, and joining the boyscout.

I don't know much about other two schools, but due to only 90 children per year and plenty opportunities in mixing with children from other years, St Paul's is, in a way, providing a second "family" to my son.  It is important when he is the only child in the family.

The school provides adequate and fine quality extra curriculum activities for every child such as musical instruments and sport classes with reasonable price tags.  The school encourages one sport, one musical instrument but not forcing it.  There is still room and time for day dreaming and X-Box.

Final but not least, there is no summer holiday homework, a blessing for the kids and parents.

同意howarts.

我仔好鐘意校架, 老師教左佢地唱校歌 (英文), 佢唱到唔停口, 話好鐘意全校一齊唱.  我諗學校做左好多功夫去培養sense of belongings.

spc係英小, 不過maths係中文教.  背書有少少, 背唐詩.  英文分開general eng同oral, general eng係中國人老師教, 初期 (小一上學期就中英夾), 跟住漸漸全英.  oral就一開始係nat teacher (佢accent係好正既英音).  仲有, general studies都分開中英2parts.

我仔冇學珠算, 普通話唔太流利, 因我冇比佢o係出面學, 只係同佢跟返學校進度, so far so good.

學器冇規定學乜野, 亦唔係一定要學.  因為學校有好多唔同activities都比學生參加.  學校唔主張參加超過2-3樣活動, 總之有activities就得.

我覺得學校都幾free, 唔會郁d就call家長話成績唔好要見家長.  佢地都比小朋友有空間發展 (我最欣賞). 我仔曾經都因為功課出問題, 佢地都肯同我傾, 又幫我約soc worker.  而家我仔都有改善, 我覺得老師好好, 肯比allowance我個仔去糾正.

There are 180 students in St. Paul's College's Form 1 classes and only 90 studends in primary school's P6 classes.  A number of the primary school's P6 students will opt for other schools with considerations such as better academic challenge, location, lower in fee and etc...  Then according to the DDS system & in theory, when a child does not fail the P6 exam and is not exceptional "naughty", there is slim chance that he cannot be accepted by the secondary section.

So, keeping the child's school performace in the middle of the class will be more than enough to secure a seat in the secondary school.  While in other schools, the ratio of going to the secondary can be as low as only 1 in 2, then pressure is real and high.  However, some parents will consider this is as a pro factor because the child will learn how to face challenge in his young age.

Fee is always a down side of DDS school, in long run and especially in rainy days, it can be difficult to cope with.  However, this is also the area, we appreciate the school so much because apart from the HK$ 3,000 school fee, other extra cirrculum activities' costs are reasonalbe and affordable.

I asked the same question to the Headmistress, the answer was:

"Band 1 or even band 2 students from SPC-PS can enter SPC as the school will consider the overall performance of the students. However, most of the graduates can go to SPC in recent years"

好多謝你地講關於升中學額畀我知, 因為能夠直升上中學是很重要的, 我既考慮就是St. Joseph 自己有20分入學機會大, 但到升中, 8 班只有3班可以直升, 壓力之大可想而知, 有幾個朋友仔仔今年考到St Paul Boy, 其中一個係St Joseph Kindergarden 學生,都放棄St Joseph, 而另一選擇當然係St Paul Co-Ed 係首選,但係Co-Ed 比St Paul Boy 更難入, 最後係高主教, 但很小家長回應, 不太清楚此校, 若你是我的話怎樣决擇?好頭痛!St Joseph係名校, Free of Charge 有分唔讀會唔會可惜, 藉唔藉得一試?
