Admission Policy
The ESF International Kindergartens are established to provide a liberal education for 3-5 year old boys and girls in the medium of English for those who can benefit from it. First priority for places will go to those who are from English speaking families or other families whose native language is not Cantonese (Category One). Children of families where Cantonese is spoken will be regarded as Category Two, and places can be offered to such children should places be available after the Category One applicants have been admitted.
Within categories, priority is given to:
Siblings of children attending an ESF school
Siblings of children attending an ESF International Kindergarten or former students of an ESF International Kindergarten
Children with a parent who is a full-time employee of ESF or ESF Educational Services Limited
Children of former ESF students
Application
Each kindergarten is happy to receive applications in accordance with the table below:

Applications posted before October will receive no advantage or priority as all applications will be processed after the submission date. Applications received after the deadline will be allocated a place on the waiting list in accordance with Category and priority.
You may only apply to one kindergarten - families living on Hong Kong island must apply to Sheung Wan Kindergarten. Families living in the Clearwater Bay, Cheung Kwan O, Hang Hau and Sai Kung area to Abacus Kindergarten and all other families residing in Kowloon or the New Territories must apply to Tsing Yi Kindergarten.
K1 aged children commence kindergarten in September of each year. If your child is older than a K1 entrant, you are still welcome to apply and can submit the application form at any time. Please note however that places in K2 are severely limited, as the majority of children complete a two year programme in an ESF kindergarten, before moving on to an ESF primary school, in the September of the year they turn 5 years old. It may be that places become available during the academic year, so if no place is immediately available your child's application will be added to our waitlist.
Please return it the appropriate kindergarten directly by registered mail or by hand to confirm that your application has been received by the kindergarten, together with the information requested on the form.
