The Principal (my son's school) will provide reference letter for top students provided they are top 10 in the form and conduct B+ or above. She will tailor-made a letter for them and students need to provide a portfolio or summary for her reference. She only addresses "To whom it may concern" . After 1st term result of P-6, she also provided a new reference letter for my son with the examination report as his overall performance better than the 2nd term P-5.

Other students only have standard letter (Testimonial), as the Principal said she only recommended the top and brightest students.

我姪仔間小學係人都有信, 但就”密封”了推薦信, 更嚇他們說拆開了信件就作廢, 有些家長唔覺意拆咗, 發現入面只是寫了學生的考試名次, 這些信有等於無, 如果學生成績不太好, 推薦信會變成唱衰信。
其實小朋友讀那間小學, 考試排第幾, 操行等級, 全部都印在成績表上, 中學校長心裡有數, 推薦信只是人有我有。
