Any comments of HLYIS (Hong Lok Yuen Int'l Sch)

Dear all,

Any comments of HLYIS? is it good? is difficult to entry? My son is near 23 1/2 months, which class he can apply? Have any other international kindergartens or good kindergartens near Tai Po?

My sons are studying there. Comments "Good"

I may have bias becos I am parent. You should make a visit to the school and find out yourself.

It is well known that HLY is a good school.

Just want to know which secondary the graduates went. It's said that most of them went to SJS. How about the remaining ones? Any plan for establishing a secondary school?

yes, SJS, it was.

Now, the school mentions Renaissance. The school is very British, including most of the Eng teachers, few Aussie.

The school will setup the secondary school based on what I see from the school news, I guess HLY see SC + RC cannot accomodate the IS students from NT, I think JIS will have the same situation. So, it is justifiable to build a secondary, I thought.

Why this school ?

Is a bit my own reasons. I was studied in UK so I am a bit pro UK. and the accents, I think it is important too if I can manage. Sounds stupid, isn't it.

Except ESF, no much doing UK curriculum in this area with most teachers are British. Kellet school does but far away from my home.

And the school has a lot of activities. Drama, languages currently has Spanish and Dutch, Chess, Golf, sports and other basic such as fund raising, parents night/lunch etc. Relatively more foreign students roughly 1/3 are foreign. One complaint is that the school fee is not cheap to me, around 8k per month.

Easy entry? I guess much easier than ESF, depends on the grade you apply, mine wait around six months. Just had english conversation because my children were young when applied, one nursery and one reception at that time.

Friend of mine (expat) came to HK abruptly with his two kids (already in Shanghai IS) got offer immediately (1 G5 and 1 G1), so I think it is not hard. But same old words, make an appointment and use your own instinct to feel if it is a good school to you.

Chinese everyday, have 3 groups. Most have Chinese background liked us will be in the Dragon group, most fluency. Those blonde hair always in the rabbit. Dragon do homework everyday.

Now my elder in Y1, has more english then math, almost no math based on my observation. But encourage reading a lot, except Chinese, English is almost weekly home work for Y1.

Don't worry too many questions, pls go ahead.
