Both are good, for my first son, he learned letterland. Letterland is easy in a way that there is a name for every letter, so if the child can not remember the letter sound, the teacher taught me too how to help them . his private teacher always give me tips to work with him at home and help him. she prepared him for IS. I found it very good. Then my second one is Jolly Phonics, different approach, but same thing. And its not just phonics, the teacher will do sharing time, (they talk) rhymes, songs and crafts related to the sound they learn and my kids have fun learning. But the trend now is Jolly Phonics. I am happy with both.
