Mind maps (思維導圖) are tools which help you think and learn. At which, you can have a systematic way to summary the learned information in form of color, drawing, and words. After the completion of the Mind Map, the child will remember information in terms of color and pictures. This can keep long terms remembering. The studying of the creation of the mind maps should be suitable for the children studing at P4 or obove.
** Since the below contents/expressions are based on my point of view without any further investigation, hope these will not confuse anyone.**
Basically, the high level of mathematics is based on the analytical skills without any limitations. But the Soroban-Math-in-Mind (珠心算) should follow the rules with steps by steps and I think it cannot increase the analytical skill and cannot improve the Maths. Skills. But the Soroban-Math-in-Mind may improve the Chinese language learning (Chinese letters are in terms of pictures). i.e. training of the right brain.

Could you tell me what is "mind mapping", my child has learnt 珠算before, I don't think it can help his Maths a lot after he promoted to P.1, but it brought about many confusion to his Maths calculation during his primary level. But, it seems that you are right, he love drawing very much, and he draws the same style picture which shows very detailed in everything, so I would like to know what is Mind Mapping and where can I find information about this topic? |
