到中學時,再唔係有無錢讀私校既問題,因為係無....好既直資,又係難爭......唔係有錢就入得....唔好既就大把位等你....

謝謝你的提點. 但當時qq123(有個女)的留言都頗具爭議性,也有很多BK媽咪回應.所以一見這個login name,便覺得confused.

別怪我多事,一份資優報告並非名校通行證,名校最想收的是聰明乖巧有特殊才藝的學生. 而資優小朋友最需要自我學習的空間,傳統名校的課程深,聰明勤力的小朋友會發揮得很好. 但傳授知識的方法未必配合資優生的學習模式. 加上一班三十多四十人,資源只能平均分配. 如果沒有資源培育他們,對校方來說實際是個負擔. 如果你的仔仔是資優而且乖巧EQ高,就不妨交埋報告給學校.

I would like to echo on Uki's comments:

1. Gifted and talented youth is more on multi-intelligency, not just academic results.  On top of academic achievement, leadership. creativity, visual arts etc, those are not count or refelect in the marks submit to EMB for Secondary School Allocation.

Also, we have Band 1 students from primary school and they all pick e.g. Queen's College, then QC has 100% Band 1 student not a Band 1 school according to EMB, you can refer to the publication from Ming Pao etc and see how they present those schools.  Under this logic, no Band 1 primary school in HK.

2. If we carefully read those articles about Chan Yik Hei, he also appreciated a techer teaching him Physics and do research and project with him after lessons.  Caring, commitment, love are good qualities for good teachers.  More this type of teachers, no matter what Band they are in, the school still a good school.  It's it?

3. I learnt an insight from the past Chairman of The HK Gifted Child Parents Association.  He told me that you discovered your child is a gifted one, you will have a mixed feeling, happy to know the score, but worry about how to help him to develop futher without "real" support from the school due to limited resources from EMB.  I have high hope on Policy Address of the Chief Executive about the gifted education.  After realise the set up just another resources centre like Fung Hon Chue, forget about it.

When my son was 7 yrs old, I took him to an private assessment centre to evaluate my son's IQ.  The assessor asked me a question why you want to know the score, for school application? further develop him? identify his strengths and weakness?  After that she insisted to meet my wife together with me and then she recommended my son go for IQ test.  Her finding is most of the time the parents want their children to be high IQ as most parents are not.  They want to do it for their own good instead of helping the children to have a balanced life in the coming years.  Think about it?

By the way, my son study at North Point Methodist Primary School.  The school only have a "Creativity Group"to motivate the gifted and highly motivated learner to learn different topics outside regular school hours.  Like my son studies in the afternoon, he will take the class on Monday 10-12am.  No extra resources from EMB, the program drives by the Principal and a group of teachers to facilitate those highly motivated learner to achieve more in the school.  Most programs are not academic related, more on creativity, problem solving, team building etc  The school is not very famous outside Eastern District, but we all love it and my son enjoys the student life in the school.

and wisdom to know the difference.

為仔仔找到理想學校, 這一點最最最最難得

我抱持住一個態度, 順其自然
或者可以說是馬後炮,
因為當我知道兩個女兒都是gifted的時候(幾年前)
她們已經不是5,6歲(一個10, 一個15),
大女於外國得知,
細女則在hk P4 時忍無可忍情況下才去test
只是回想過去的一切, 都來得多麼自然, 真的要感恩

感恩唔係因為佢地係資優, (因為我冇額外提供任何資源)
而係佢地ge EQ好高, 甚至好過我, 佢地好少令我頭痛
選擇學校都以佢地為出發點, 功課少,
佢地開心上學, 六年小學生涯只請過一天病假
(人地話資優童大部份身體好, 睡眠少, 兩個女BB時都唔瞓晏覺, 返全日幼稚園, 其他小朋友瞓晒, 佢地就幫老師做野)
大女整個五年中學都冇請過假, 細女未知...
如果真係要比較係細女難教過家姐, 但都只係做野做得太慢,
睇過好多媽咪ge 討論
我覺得我好應該感恩, 提醒自己唔好要求咁高

離晒題tim, 唔好意思...

我只想講適合你小朋友ge學校就係好學校
唔需要介意banding, 你講得啱, 小學係冇分banding ge

資優唔係個個身體特別好架。
我朋友個資優仔由細病到小三架，幼稚園小一時平均一個月入院一次架。
我以前都係網上問過d資優父母，
佢地仔女的身體無特別話好好，

仲有，不少資優生在年幼時都有唔同程度的敏感症架。

仲有，果個統計話顯示資優比一般人健康、高大等的資料，
其實係佢地做調查時，訪問的都是上層人士的子女，而且都是學業成績好又品行好的資優生(通常都係九型人格ge3號仔黎)。(又資優女唔同資優仔)

至於當時那些有情緒或行為問題或低成就的資優生，或來自低下階層的孩子，根本無被發現出來，老師永遠不當那些孩子是資優生，所以，果d調查係唔準確架。

agree,
if you search for " gifted underachiever" or " 低成就資優生" in the internet, you find endless results and that is really shocking: this is a reseach topic in many countries.

gifted child could underachieve.

don't understand why our government is only talking about " gifted children and extra course" only.
