HuiTung,
Private estate, of course need to pay $$$ for renovation. But many of the oldies living there simply don't want to pay / cannot pay, so they're trying their best to defer the issue.
Actually quite badly in need of renovation.
Hi BS,
Sorry that I was reading the piano rental and jump in to talk about building rehabilitation.
If you are living in an old building within the redevelopment area of the Urban Rehabilitation Authority (市區重建局), they help in renovation of old buildings and offer incentive (sometimes up to $million of renovation materials, or interest free loan, and $10,000 per unit renovation loan for old people with financial difficulty). After renovation, they subsidizes 50% of the building's public liability insurance for three years. Overall, they help buidlings to get rehabilitated. If your building is not in the URA area, then you can get similar benefits from the Hong Kong Housing Society (lots of advertisement). Your OC (業主立案法團) should try because very easy to apply.
Try to get it start with their help. The URA/HKHS people can guide the Owners' Incoporation through the renovation process. |
