Re: 小學教高1級英文, 教高半個學期Math
hi Song!
Hey, I have to type in English this time. I'm now out of town (yes, again.... )
In my opinion, students tend to compare their workload to others'. If they feel that they have to do more, many young children will feel unjustly treated. It's very hard for them to accept the parents' ideas that "doing more work will be beneficial to their future" haha! (Well, even I doubt that sometimes..)
Have you ever noticed that the younger ones at home often imitate their siblings? If the elder sisters/brothers play piano with a POSITIVE manner, the younger ones will want to follow. On the other hands, if the elder sisters/brothers cry all day just to avoid playing the piano, the younger ones will be reluctant to "fall into the trap!" haha!
So, if you don't say that there's too much hw all the time, your child will have nothing to compare her work load with. Then, she wouldn't know, and would feel less tormenting when doing the work.
If your daughter cares about the grading of the exercise books so much, just rip off the cover page. Sometimes, I'd lie to my students, claiming that it's BOOK 1, not GRADE 1. (as long as you persist and say that all others are doing the same thing, they'd believe in you) If not, tell her something like: "Oh.. yea, i know there's a P1 book, but then it was out of stock. I thought you're smart enough for a P2 book, so I bought it for you anyway. Do you want to give it a try? If it's too hard, I will get you a P1 book, and we'll go back to it after the P1 book is done..."
Usually, young kids won't like the idea of having to work on 2 books instead of 1, so they'll start working on the one that I give them.
Actually, to tell you the truth, I'm quite against this practice of teaching students several grades in advance. I feel that time could be better spent (ie, on nurturing an interest/reading/sports, etc). But, I guess if I were a parent in HK, I wouldn't have many choices... |
